Pinga, Well, I have a crazy taste in beers. When I was in America I used to love to go out on a Corona night and drink until I couldn't walk. It has it's own acquired taste. Hell, when I was in college I got used to drinking Old Milwakee's Best. Because I was a poor boy and that's all I could afford. For a long time after that even when I had money to buy more expensive beers Istill drank Old Milwakee.

Krip, but is it really Corona taste itself that you like? or is it the (quite successful) marketing gimmick modified taste provided by adding the lime piece? You could do the lime thing with any beer for that matter. In Mexico I never saw a Corona served with lime, ... well it has been a few years since I was there last. Maybe now the neighboors from the North are educating those guys on how to drink their own beer

Marketing. If you do it right, they'd think it's more real than coke is.

If I really have to put lime in my beer, then I put it in a good german Weizenbier or a belgian white beer, both wheat beers. That somehow enhance the richness of the beer. As for Corona, well, the taste is probably not what is important...

I guess, after thinking about it a while, it was probably the social standing that drove me to drinking Corona. For some stupid reason, Americans in the Heartland at least, think that whoever is drinking Corona by the gallon must have some money. Stupid way of thinking now that I think about it. After reading all the posts, I decided not to go to Galaxy Bang Saen (they serve Corona) and drink. Instead, I stayed home drank way too much Chang beer and woke up with a splitting headache. I have a question. Why is it that when you tell and older guy that you have a hangover they call you a rookie and tell you that they never get hangovers? Is this true? I have never been drunk and not woken up with a hangover. Am I doing something wrong? I consider myself an accomplished drinker, but I am still looking for the hangoverless drunk. Or is this like looking for the holy grale?

I never get hangovers (well, hardly ever). Are you calling me old? Rookie. Rule #1: Don't drink cheap crap. (Unless you're talking about Thai beer, in which case drink the least offensive cheap crap.) Rule #2: Drink lots of water; especially just before you go to sleep and also when you wake up. Doesn't everyone know this already? Of course, if you're drinking to the point that you're almost throwing up then you'll probably get a hangover no matter what else you do.

If a Corona is served with a lime the intention is to clean away the rusty remains of the crown cork on the opening of the bottle, not to put the lime down into the bottle...!

That may be one intent and perhaps even the original reason, but in the states it is mostly just a marketing gimmick that people have become accustomed to (IMO) so it is pretty pervasive. You'd never do that to a real beer, but for Corona it's okay by me.

Chompoo, It is as you say a marketing gimmick, even in Europe. I was used to the same. A few years back I had a GF from Mexico and she was very shocked to see about this fashion... Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý Ý
