I've normally kept my personal keys locked/tucked away in the hotel room. I think next time I'm there I'll carry a couple of them with me and do the same thing. That's gotta beat the hell out of saying "No I don't need no stinking cab/bhat bus ride" every 2 minutes.
Just jiggle the keys.

I actually love when the taxis and tuktuks pull up alongside me on the footpath and look at me longingly, I stare back at them without flinching until they get bored and drive off, then get the new taxi behind them so they can see me in their rear view mirror.

My personal favorite with the taxi or baht bus is when you are walking towards them, and they are on the opposite side of the street. They continue to give you the "beep-beep" and look longingly in your direction.
Like you really want to go the way they are going and you are walking the opposite way by mistake.
I love it, like MN says just ignore them and they drive away.

HMMMM... with all the construction going on, I notice the majority of the iron/steel workers are women. Take a peek at the people doing the rebar jobs... you know, hard hats and towels on their heads... Almost all women.
Can't imagine them getting liquored up on pay day and being told "NO" by the boyfriend!!

How come when you walk into a restaurant you are greeted by a waitress who asks if you have booked. When you say "No" she tutts and looks meaningfully at the ledger. Then she shows you a table in a totally empty restaurant.
How come every restaurant tries to get you to drink Evian water. Do they need to go to France to find a decent glass of water. Havent they ever heard of Minere?

Going to Lopburi at King Narai palace and seeing an Australian Special Forces NCO in cammies with another Aussie in shirt and tie.
Taking my 20 year junior LTGF to the highly family-oreinted MK at Big C in Lopburi (this aint Bagkok) and having all the couples stare at us in disgust and envy.
Having every TG I ever took for pizza poor ketchup on the pie.
Having a TG ask why a piece of gifelte fish is not cooked.
Seeing a Thai cop with his Colt MkIV.45 ACP cocked and the safety disengaged (shit, that was scarry).
Going to Pattaya and seeing a vendor sell T-shirts that feature World War Two vehicles. I collect WW2 vehicles so this was real eye stopper.
Seeing a TG in Gaysorn Plaza w/o a bra. Just kidding, never will happen.
