Who is the best novelist who writes about Thailand ?
In my opinion it is David Young (Thailand Joy, Fast Eddie's Lucky 7 a gogo, etc.) His writing is somewhat simplistic, but his characters are well developed and the storys are true to the subject matter. I just finished "Fast Eddie's" and though I didn't like it as much as Thailand Joy, I will remember the characters in it for quite some time...

There is a great historical novel available through asia Books called; A Falcon in the Court of Siam. The author is John Hoskin. Based on a true story it recounts the life and events surrounding Constantine Phaulkon. Phalkon was a Greek of low birth that rose to power in Ayuthaya in the 17th century. This guy essentially became the 1st minister. This is really good novel and covers a lot of ground in old Siam and is interesting in part because all of the great European and Asian governments are in play at the time in the Siamese court. Anyway it is a good novel and a quick read hope you enjoy it.

WATCH THIS SPACE as the saying goes..... Steven Leather is in my opinion as good a writer about Thai/Asian books as you can get, His reputation hopefully is enhanced in a few months time, when 'moi's' memoirs hit the shelves, - what may have been a pretty boring read, is brilliant thanks to Steves assistance. - It is a must read for anyone EVER involved with a TG ! - should be out for Xmas.
