Planning another trip to LOS, want to get in a few rounds. Any suggestions for nice courses around Bangkok. I read the entire Forum and I don't think golf has come up. Are the brothers too tired from the indoor activities?

Sanuk Man, there are over 180 golf courses in Thailand and maybe 50 or 60 within a couple of hours of Bangkok. Most are open to the general public except for a couple which are members only. Green fees are very reasonable, ranging from Baht 600 - Baht 1,500 for 18 holes. If you want to rent a cart the price is normally around Baht 500. Caddie fee is around Baht 200 to the club and then around Baht 200 tip. Search "golf in Thailand" through google and take a look at what comes up.

Check the Green World hotel in Kanchanaburi. This is a golf hotel and it's a good place to travel for few days.

Sanukman, I am a golf fanatic and have been playing in Thailand for about 10 years. You'll find some of the best courses around Pattaya. Laem Chabang (Nicklaus design) there is quite a place. Also a Faldo course, Pete Dye course, and Siam Country, Green valley isn't bad either. Prices vary. If you're serious about going down there and playing alot of golf, recommend you purchase a Pattaya Sports Club membership (think about 25 USD) and the courses usually give you a worthwhile discount. Highly recommend Laem Chaebang as Nicklaus did an excellent design. If you're going up to Chiang Mai, would recommend the Chiang Mai Lampoon Golf Course. Quite a layout. Not long, but tough as the greens are fast and many trees in the middle of the fairways. Believe it was the asian games course a few years back. Prices vary depending on weekend or weekday, but not too bad. Usually not too crowded. I have a local membership there which is hard to get being an expat, but possible and prices are half price. Not familiar with the ones in Bangkok, but I've heard Rose Garden is also a pretty good course. Think I'd pass on the one between the runways at the airport. Little nerving trying to drive with a 747 landing over your head. If you're going to Phuket, recommend Banyan tree as that is also quite a layout and they treat you extremely well. If you're really serious, go to the Blue Canyon course there where they play the Johnnie Walker tournament with the likes of Couples, Els, and Tiger. Price is easily over 100 USD and take a lot of balls with you cause if you mishit it, it's usually gone for good. Hope this helps.

Expatjack - Good post. Laem Chabang is a wonderful course. The 60-70km belt around Pattaya contains all your golfing needs. And at the end of your round you have all the Pattaya night time frolics to look forward to. Message to the last poster - if you've got the money - you get to play - at least 99% of the time anyways. The only handicap is the heat & humidity - but you'll get used to it.
