I was talking to thai airways and they told me June was considered high season. I though Nov - March was high season? What the hell...?!?!? Anyone know if this is crap and if hotel rates/girl prices change in June?

Best way to find out, is to surf some of the hotel/accomodation places and rates, say at Phuket. They often identify when the various seasons start and finish. I had a quick look and the rates for 1 Feb to 30 April were generally about 50-80% higher than those from 1 May to 30 Oct. That tells me you ticket after may should be cheaper.

Watch out for July though. The first 2 weeks is designated low season and then it becomes peak at around the 16th. I was caught with the price hike when going to Samui 2 years back. Not sure if this applies to Phuket.

High Season for Airlines depends on the location from where the flight originates. For example fro most of Middle East the high seson starts fro Mid June. The fares go through the roof during that period for most of the destinations in Far East & to Europe. BK can you please check out if July 1st Half would still be a low season in Phuket Thanks

actual High seasons are those corresponding to European holidays, i.e. Dec/Jan and August, - although they probably call these "Peak" - Thai seems to call anytime when people want to travel more often "high" season, usually covers all school holdidays etc. As to hotel rates, normally it is only name/chain hotels that bump up the prices, - so maybe look at a smaller place.

June is certainly not high season here, I could understand July or August being considered high season by Thai from the UK when the schools are out, but Junes is not considered High Season by the UK travel industry.....though the latter weeks would be shoulder.

FN Guy, It's much the same here with airline ticket prices. A ticket to BKK (or almost anywhere really in SEA) is more expensive in June than it is in January. July & August are more expensive still. Infact the 6 weeks of the school holidays are even more expensive for tickets than the Christmas period. (about 15 euros more per return for August than for Xmas). I'm looking at brochures just now with prices for Thai Airways for the whole year . Cheapest months are November and May. Most expensive months are July, August and the Christmas period.* *also KLM and China Airways pricing seems to have the same peaks and lows as Thai Airways. However in this brochure the hotels are cheapers in LOS in July & August. Rather, the peak prices for hotels are Dec, Jan & Feb.
