I hesitate making this post, but what the heck here it goes.
During the daytime, if someone would like to do something else than going to a MP or drink in GT what would you do.
Like visiting the royal palace, wat pho, an amusement park or the likes. This possibly in combination with a Teeruk.
Maybe this sounds silly but I do not want to spend my holiday walking around Sukhumvit soi 1 till 23 all day.

well you co do some shopping... but I would say that;)
The weekend market is fun even if you don't like shopping.... the zoo is quite nice too... take a boat trip along the Chao Praya (sp???) river on one of the bigger boats... or hire one of the little boats and go into the smaller side-canals leading of the river... or go in the morning to the floating market... or have a regular massage at Wat Po.... or take a day trip to Arryutha (sp??) or the River Kwai... or vist some temples... or just sit down with a cool drink and do some "people watching"... or hire a car (with or without) driver and drive down to the coast....
there is sooooooo much to do in and around Bangkok during the day, and still be back in plenty of time for your night-time fun.

Now .. to answer your question.
I agree with X. Besides shopping you can go to the floating market, ect.
I don't know the name of the place, but I also went to see the aligator/crocodile farm. interesting to some degree, but sad to see them all couped up. Also, if you like to golf, you can hit one of their driving ranges, which are very nice and cheap. Movies are also a good change or pace, espcially if you see one in the Gold theaters. Very nice theaters, with louge chairs instead of the regular theater chairs and you can order alcoholic beverages and food from your seat. Talk about being lazy!!! ha ha ha ha!!

This might sound stupid, but here goes.
To stay away from the blaring sun, what one could do is play counter-strike allday at one of the inet cafes or similar places. Just my $.02

Have been to the weekend market and while busy I liked it there. Also shopping, MBK is great. If you go there again, visit one of the beauty salons. Was about B200 for a face treatment of about 45 to 60 minutes. Made my skin feel like silk.

Went to 2 movies last time in LOS. And not the western flics, mind. No a regular Thai movie. Can even remember 1 name 'Kwan/Riam' about a young couple living 60 years ago on the SaenSaeb Canal. Really nice scenery shots, although the story was rather sad. Anyway I won't start a commentary about a 2 year old movie here  .

I had a hair-cut in MBK.... that was.... errr... different.
Go for a stroll through China town.... there's one small ally-like street with a kinda fresh-produce market.... I saw big fish hanging there... they'd been chopped in two... and the top bit with the mouth was still breathing... weird. You can easily spend hours just wandering around there. (well... I can)
You won't find this is the tourist books.. but is fun... go to PizzaHut at lunchtime when the office-girls come in in big groups... and just watch them do their thing with the "all you can eat for 60 baht" salad bar. It's amazing... better than a magician. They line the salad bowl with iceberg lettuce to make it higher, so more can go in it, then they have a certain "order" to the rest of the salad, end result is a salad that needs 3 people to carry it... I love watching that.

sleep is good advice... but if you venture out ...drink lots of chilled water... go canal hopping in those shity fast boats along the cities drag.... hand out a few e-mail adresesses to cuties... go to the markets and malls ... see a flick ... take your girl bowling... explore the temples ..or have a massage... GO TO A GYM... hand out phone numbers... have a blowjob... get a girl in one a mall that doesnt work usually to meet for dinner.. buy clothes.. and Sleep...... have an excurusion to pattaya and go jrt ski-ing.... you will have a hoot.. but watch that sun... and learn enough thai to swear at the taxi drivers
