In my hometown I met a couple from Thailand a few months back and we have become friends. Moe was telling me about his brother who is a high governmnet official in Bangkok who's wife is a professor and department head at a major University. I do not have any names but supposidly in the early to mid 80's a student protest against the gonverment took place and several of the student leaders (including Moe's brother) were captured and inprisoned for a period of time. Supposedly the US government intervened and prevented the torture and execution of these leaders. Do any of you know any information about this period of unrest and does the discription match that of any high governmnet officials? Thanks
I think I remember reading something about it about a week ago in the Nation. It was about the time that the had the fights at the bus stop between the stundents of 2 technical schools. Might be able to find something with the search feature.
