Hi All,
Are the bars etc closed this weekend.
I believe its the election's and thought this may hamper the activites arround town.

The bars will likely begin closing at 1800 Saturday and then reopen at 2400 Sunday. Then again, maybe not.
The 7-11s will also be unable to sell you spirits during this or another time frame.
The problem is the voters must remain sober so they can remember who bought their vote.

According to the paper (Bangkok Post, I think), they also have to stay sober enough to operate complex machinery - like the camera used to photograph their ballot, to prove who they voted for. Presumably it's only upon presentation of this proof that they get paid.

nana will be closed saturday, but reopen sunday night.
when they close the polls, they reopen the bars.
this measure is in effect, because in the older days they used to licqour the people up and then made them elect their party candidates.
hhmm. now they dont give em drinks, but cash...
