Yeah, Loi Katrong is sometime early November. For some reason it was not listed on the BTF Holiday guide. One of my favorite Thai holidays.

r the major entertainment venues open on loy katong? like nana plaza, soi cowbot, etc. all were closed on vischa buscha day recently. it SUCKED, parddon the pun.

I was there for Loy Kratong in 2003, & back this year (10th-18th Nov - at least). Bars are open, and TBG's wear traditional dress. It's a romantic night, like Valentine.....if you fancy one of the TGs buy a little boat & send both your troubles down the river in it. Then retire to some serious fun, having set a romantic mood.
In 2003 the whole place seemed to go off on the night Loy Kratong was celebrated.
Very good indeed.

Yeah, I was there also in 2003. But I was in Pattaya. And down there it makes a bit more sence to me, since you are there close to the sea. I have some difficulty figuring out how the boat thing works in Nana Plaza since the river is a serious taxi drive away from there.
So in Pattaya it is a relaxed holiday for the girls and for you. The bars are open and the girls dress up. And I could see in the eyes of the girls in the bar that they were happy for my girl that she had a date. I think that the closest thing to that feeling is the american promnight. If you have to go to your promnight without a date then you are a loser. (I get this view from american movies, so don't blame me if it is wrong.) And a happy girl makes a guy happy in my book.
If you want some good GFE then this is the time you should be there, as some real friendship can happen. It did with me. Only mariage can top this feeling, but that is a bridge too far. 
But if you only are interested in a ST sexromp then this is not your thing. The dressed-up girls are to much bother for you to get all those clothes of of them.
