I have a friend who wants to meet up with me in BKK. He lived in Dubai for a while, and had a couple of cheques bounce, which is a serious offence over there. He doesn't owe any sums of money and they were not passed with bad faith, circumstances required to return home. Question is, will he have trouble with immigration in Thailand? Does interpol get involved in such matters or just drug smuggling, terrorism, etc.? In North America, passing a bad cheque is not a criminal offence, sleazy, but not criminal. I don't want to bring him over here only to get thrown in the clink.

I wud not give any names but wud call the thai embassey and see what they say. also if u go to pattaya lap.hu they a have a law section and names of laywers u can call.this board might but never checked. anyway never trust u or friends life with something u read on this board as u never know persons motive.in cases like this go straight to the source. p.s u might also be able to check with inerpol yourself get the facts and seeif your friend is on the a shit list.Lots of crooks from europe come to thailand and are not picked up until break thai law at which time the thai gov checks them out for priors and then deports them to country that has a hold on them,but remember u do not know me or my motives there for get the info.from the horses mouth

Thai officildom has very little links with outside agencies, except thru Interpol, and DEA - he would be 100% safe, have had more than a few 'associates' from Nz AND AUS!! come and stop in LOS for a time till the heat died down on far more serious offences ;
