Most any facility here will have at least a few 'knockers' on call to hit with you. Seriously, that's the correct term. There are no public courts in Bangkok, of course, and if you don't know a member at either the Sports Club or the Polo Club, you'll find even the pickings at private facilities are pretty thin: really crummy courts and extremely poor facilities. I'd suggest you go to the Health Club at the Grand Hyatt. They have one court which used to be reasonably well maintained. Not cheap, but probably the best compromise between cost and qualitity. Or, of course, you could always join the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. I hear the wait inglist is down to something like twenty years now.

Try the Santisook Tennis Club on sukhumvit soi 36. Get off the BTS at Thong Lo station and walk 400m down soi 36, it'll be a green gate on your left. Or take a motorbike taxi from the corner of sukhumvit and say "tennis" and make swinging motions with your arms (unless you're fluent in thai, in which case you can just say 'pai sanaam ten-nit san-ti-sook'). They have 3 indoor courts, 4 outdoor courts, very reasonable prices, knockers and coaches. Haven't taken any coaching as I'm a bloody good tennis player as it is, but I'm pretty sure it's available.

For what it's worth, I've played at both of the above recommendations before and never will again. The courts are really awful, cracked and uneven, sort of like public courts in a run down neighborhood of a not very proosperous town. Also you shouldn't get too excited about the mention of 'indoor courts.' In Bangkok 'indoor courts' are not indoors at all. The term is applied to any courts that have a shelter over them. They do not have walls and of course they have no air conditioning. The main effect, it seems to me, is to make the courts hotter and the ventilation worse.
