I have lived in LOS for about half of this year and a bit of last year. For me I am 53yo, no glamour model, physically OK for my age, not fat or obese.
Bangkok is a capital city of the world, not like London, New York, Copenhagen, Sydney, Brisbane, Washington, but still a capital city.
When I walk around the city, go to bars, do my shopping, I see these fat/obese blokes dressed in board shorts and a sleeveless shirt (we call them singlets in OZ). They are sometimes with TG's hand in hand. So I look at them with amazement, would they dress like that in their own country, wandering around a capital city. The TG most of the time has no or little money, but she will have on clothing that is respectable (in most cases), clean shirt, top, jeans and shoes. Yet Thailand people are supposed to be poor but they can still wear nice clothes.
I look at these fat/obese creatures who must think, " I am on holidays, I wear holiday clothes". Sure if you were in the bush or by the sea no problem, but in a city, yuk.
When I am in casual mode it will be clean shirt, shorts and reasonable footwear. I am not here to make a fashion statement, but these blokes look like f..ken pigs, Poor TG, she must feel embarrassed but money is money.

Now if you can wear one and pass it off and look good well fine for you but I can't. So I don't.

Like you are an object of elegance yourself. You should just mind your own business and not worry about how people like me dress.
While my gut is not as big as some, it has only been 15 years since I last saw my pecker other than in the mirror or a home movie. We find it very cooling in this oppressive heat to wear what is comfortable. I prefer to be comfortable than worry about what you are thinking.
Also these clothes and the girls we attract are considerably cheaper than your classy copy look.

I often dress less than posh but at least I don't fit your description. Although I agree with most of what you say I would also add that seeing a foreigner on holiday walking around the streets with a bottle/can of beer in his hand also looks bad.
Many arseholes in Pattaya walk around swiggin' on a Heini, wouldn't do that at "home" now, would they?
Don' they know that Armageddon's comin' to a theartre near you!

I agree 100%, I just dont get it, why they dress like that in the nighttime, when I go out I have jeans and a polo on, nothing fancy but still better looking than tank tops and shorts, but if you go to one of the island then you can wear what you want, but not in the capital.

I must concer,,, jeans and a polo,occasionally a nice T-shirt, decent shoes and a big smile is what I wear in BKK.
Must disagree on one point ( being pedantic ) Brisbane and Sydney are not Capital ities as such....... good old heat wave in summer freezer in winter Canberra is our Capital ( thanks to those idiot Melbournites).

I personally despair at a lot of my fellow countrymen abroad although English by birth I play the Scottish card because to be associated with shaven headed tatted up larger louts or nasty comb-over fat greasy old f-witts is just too much.
One just craves a little style and etiquette.
