Went to First Fitness in the Landmark yesterday and they wanted B875 for one day pass. Screw them. Went to a Fitness center on the 6th floor of the Marriott (off Sukhumvit) and paid B500, still expensive but nice gym, good assortment of free weights and good "life fitness machines". Anybody know of cheaper in this area that they like, let me know?

B1,000 for a day pass but B2000 for the month? Are you sure?
Can't remember what Marriott Fitness gave for a monthly rate but said they are raising their rates for a one year membership from B35,000 to B38,000 next month. I pay the equivalent of B15,000 for my Golds Gym membership (discounted). I prefer the gym atmosphere to the carpeted floors of the fitness centers and don't use the sauna or hot tubs, and other crap they have at the fitness centers. I would just prefer a no frills gym.
I like it basic but has anybody worked out at the gym in Phenom Penh with the dirt floor, and greasy weights right out of the 1950s? I don't care for it that basic but still a good experience and will go back to it when I am there in a few days.

There is a small outdoor "gym" inside Lumpini Park. Very cheep.

Still on the subject of gyms/fitness centers so will go ahead and reply here but could just as easy this could be in hotel section. I am in Phenom Penh now, and went to the gym at Phenom Penh Hotel. OK gym by asian standards, but for the US$10 cost, you also get to use the huge and very nice outside pool. THAT sure made the afternoon worthwhile. Nice hotel by the way, but I still prefer the California 2 along the river. Very basic, kind of small rooms but I like it.
