Not to get you guys off the main topic but sometimes I need a little distraction in order to perform better. I like that distraction to be golf after I've had my horn honked a few times. Can any of you guys recommend a decent golf course that doesn't stick it to visitors in BKK or Chaing Mai or Hua hin or Pattaya? (I looked for a BKK today web site but the nightime one was the only thing that appeared) Thanks

There are a lot of nice courses in and around Bangkok. I am not familiar with Hua Hin or Pattaya (on golf that is) but Chiang Mai is my favourite because of the lower temperatures. I can recommend Lanna, a 27 hole course just outside the city, Royal Chiangmai, very well maintained 18 hole course but quite far out and Gymkana, a 9 hole course in the city near the Westin Hotel.

WARNING
Stay well away from a British national in his 50s named Neville Nicholson. dba as Golf Orient out of Phuket mostly sometimes Bangkok. Claims to broker memberships and organize tours but mostly what Neville does is cheat his fellow Farang out of millions of baht for phony investments in his company. Score so far that we know of 1 British gold pro and 2 Americans total to tune of c.5 Million baht.
Nicholson is a former Hong Kong Shanghai Bank employee but can't go back to HK as he skipped on a lot of taxes and also a big debt on CCs he obtained from his own bank.

Lots of good places to play in both Bangkok and Pattaya. I prefer Pattaya due to the large number of quality courses and the ease of transportation to and from the courses. I moved to Pattaya in 1992 for this reason and have never regretted it. There are 20 or so courses in the immediate vicinity of Pattaya and many of them are championship caliber being designed by such people as Nicklaus, Faldo, Peter Thompson, Pete Dye, Gary Player to name just a few. You can't go wrong in Pattaya but the golf in BKK is also good, just plan for the longer day to get it done.
