Mr Alan
There are usually scattered thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings, and not rain all day long, but it depends on the specific weather conditions.

Personally, I think there are some advantages to the rain, because it washes the pollution out of the air and washes the filth off of the street. Just be sure to carry an umbrella and learn to live with the increased humidity.

In Feb, especially early Feb you are on the tail end of the "cool season"usually the days are sunny with little rain and generally blue skies. A good time to go.

Aug Sep & Oct you will find a lot of rain, not generally continuous and usually after midday it will be overcast.

If you want to sunbathe get up early!!

If I check the weather in an Amerekan paper or online, it almost always says Thundershowers for BKK. But I'll talk to someone in BKK and it hasn't rained for days.

In August a few years ago, it rained 7 of the 10 days I was there, but certainly not all the time and hardly enough to come near spoiling the trip. The next year, in August, it rained one time I was there.

IMO, don't worry about this.

never saw it rain inside a soapy or an oily.... other than the shower (golden or regular) !!!

As Mr Alan says, bring an umbrella (actually better to just buy one when you arrive). What he didn't say is that hip-waders can be advisable on many streets!!

This last September in Pattaya it rained...I think it was 14 evenings in a row. In September 2005 it didn't anywhere near as much.

that's not necessarily true... Bangkok is very big... I also read the papers online and catch the evening news here in BKK.

if its raining it depends on where in Bangkok. near the old airport comes to mind the most, Don Muang and the area around Kaset University rains a lot. while the area around Bangna also gets rain,

while the central area (think Siam, lower - mid Suk) rarely. I used to live off of Sathorn Rd a few years back and would call my friends who would say that it was raining by there house either in one of the 2 areas...

That is what weather forecasters called "Scattered thunderstorms."
