Just heard BOTH airports had been bombed.
What's going on down there? Do you guys think all these protests are on the up-and-up or is someone manipulating this to bring down Thaksin even further?

shit, those aren't bombs..... Oklahoma city was a bomb. the U.S. embassy in Kneya was a bomb. The U.s. marine camp in Lebanon was a bomb.
These are small time tactics.... if you want to really want to blow something up, take a truck full of fertilzer, and then...............

There's nothing legitimate going on and these aren't protest in any western since of the word.
A bunch of half-witted thugs, supported and paid both directly and indirectly by the palace and the royalists, have tried to pull down every elected government Thailand has had since 2005. Their stated goal is to end representative democracy in Thailand and reestablish some kind of government which will be, regardless of what its called, a restoration of the monarchy and its royalist beneficiaries supported by the army.
The People's Alliance for Democracy has nothing to do with the people (B500 a day being the going rate for its cannon fodder 'protestors' with a slightly higher rate being paid to the armed goons who lead every attack), and its goals are to END democracy (since, in their view, the poor stupid voters of Thailand have the nasty habit of electing the wrong people over and over).

shutting down a countrys airports maybe arent equivalent to a bombing.
but it sure as will affect the whole country. hookers dont keep tourist away.
shutting off air transport surely will.
political unrest surely will.

Am presently in the States. Have important meetings in BKK on Monday. Is there anyway to get into the Country, through relatively "normal" channels?
My customers say it is safe; but how do I get in, if both airports closed?
Any suggestions???

Fly into Phuket, then fly to one of the domestic airports closer to Bangkok, then take a shuttle, bus or taxi to BKK.
The Bangkok airports are not the only international airports in Thailand.
