But in fairness it is probably the lamest rollercoaster in the world, it isn;t very high and does not go upside down at any point, its all very childish compared to the thrills available in the amusement parks in the western world. A far bigger thrill here in BKK, allbeit in the burbs, is the new theme park that only has 3 rides in it, its located next to Fashion Island on the Eastern Outer Ring Road. They have a 'London Eye' type ferris wheel, a roller coaster (not sure if it's finished or of the quality) but best of all they have one of those structures thats a square tower that goes up say 100ft or so, you sit on chairs on the outside and it takes you up to the top and then drops you, if you're into theme parks you'll know what I mean. There is another roller coaster ride at Siam Park (similar area sort of), but its a straight forward loop the loop ride and very old. I guess people get there thrills some other way in Thailand

Fashion Island is located on the Eastern Outer Ring Road where it crosses highway 304. If you tell a cab driver "Fashen eyelan rarmindrar" you should be okay, failing that tell him Plar Lam Gow which is Rama 9 road and start heading out of town, you need to turn left (both roads are huge highways) onto the Ring Road and from there you will see the ferris wheel in the distance on the right hand side. Its about 30 minutes from sukhumvit soi 4 on the highways with normal traffic. Heres a Thai map http://www.fashionisland.co.th/fi_file2/map_print.htm Do bear in mind though that the theme park is located 5 minutes away by cab, you'll see it no problem when you get there so just point and the taxi guy shoulw be cool. Siam Park> This place seems to have spent a lot of money on some serious looking new rollercoaster and other new rides (according to their website) check this out http://www.siamparkcity.com/EN/E_HOME.html and click Amusement Park link at the top, they have also purchased one of those tower droppers I mentioned so i'd just go straight here. The site also has a map link giving full directions as well as a map. Have fun !

Is the fashion island amusement park the one you get a glimpse of as you travel from the new airport to Pattaya on the motorway?

maybe this would be under "Thai Girls in Farangland" but it pertains to roller coasters and this thread reminded me of it... The first time mrs atl ever rode a roller coaster was when she got to the states...and we went to "six flags" and immediatly went on the new intense roller coaster...she screamed the whole time and when we got off she holds her heart and says "Tilac machine steal my heart outside my body!" Then we went on the space shuttle ride that is just a big convertable space shuttle ride that loops around but stops at certain levels and lets everyone hang as they look down 60 feet.... just hanging to the shoulder harness mrs atl began screaming at full volume in Thai, which was funny as hell but then she switched to english quickly (while shaking as if having a convulsion) "get me down, take me down, tilac I never do again, take me down NOW!" well she got down and said "it steal my heart...look on floor for my heart it is outside my body! Jing Jing look for it tilac atl
