bangkok is oppressively hot and being on the river is so cool.

I think Phuket and Pattaya are the most well known ones. Hmmm I've seen a couple of advertisements concerning cruises (tour packages) within South East Asia region with stops in Phuket at least.... have to take a look at the newspaper this weekend....but the answer is yeah, there are lots of tour boats in here and cruises are definitely available.

There are cruises out of Singapore. You can look it up in Singapore Straits Times, their main Newspaper. If you can jump off later to stay on in Thailand I don't know, but I have had round trip airline tickets in the past where I got the trip within South-East Asia included in the same price as Ldn-S'pore-Ldn so I could just fly in and out of S'pore as a hub.

There are a couple of cruises available on the Chao Praya river, which is the big river that runs along Bangkok and separates it from Thonburi. •There are dinner/sunset cruises and overnight cruises to Ayutthaya, if I recall correctly. •The overnight ones are very posh and you pay for it. •The dinner one is also expensive. •They are on converted rice barges, albeit very nice ones, and associated with a couple of the big name hotels on the river.
We took a "full moon" cruise once on a trip to Koh Phi Phi (Phi Phi Island). •This cost about 500 baht and included fresh grilled fish, the cruise and the first two beers. • My mates and I snuck on a couple of large beers as supplemental. •It was a bit longer than I'd thought but generally a decent time, mostly foreign tourists along. •After dark they spotlighted the flying fish leaping along the bow. •Very friendly tour.
If you want a longer cruise, well, that'll be tough to come by in Thailand as far as I know.

I agree with seubeu, the dinner cruises in the evening are pleasant. I took a "nice" girl there once, she enjoyed it and it contributed handsomly to the relationship
