Last nite about 8:30 PM I crossed over the Sukhumvit Pedestrian Bridge near Soi 2. When approaching the stairway I noticed a number of people already ascending the staircase, so I was trailing behind this group as a single person. Almost reaching the other side I was startled out my thoughts by a sudden hello greeting from an African stranger on the right hand railing. Then in quick succession as prompted by the first greeting, a second hello from another African on the left side railing. I did not respond and proceeded forward.
This brief encounter just did not feel right. What were these guys up to?

Those guy are likely practicing one of their new idea to divert people attention to rob them somehow.
I heard on internet about some philipino near MBK who grab&shake your leg to divert your attention while another one rob you.
Also few days ago a taxi driver (who work with me regularly) told about this new tactic when they hit you on the shoulder for the same purpose
Despite the skytrain&nice decoration, this is a 3rd world country with many desperate people around...better to take of the rose tainted glassed and realise this is the jungle out there...

MF, that's what I think they were up to, but too many people around. Very dark up there and the busy traffic noise will muffle the sounds of a scuffle.
From now on at nite, I will go to Nana and use the cross walk to cross Suk.
I often see many well dressed people getting out of Taxis to cross over to JW Marriot Hotel.
