Recently a Chiang Mai woman who got dumped by her partner of 3 years, threatened to kill herself if he walked away.
When he called her bluff she ate sleeping pills and ended up being found just in time ( conviently)
It was a friend of mine who is the guy.
He initially asked me for advice....but now has gone back with her.
This makes me angry as he doesn't want to really stay with her( as she nags and fights and drinks) and looks bad these days.
But he is scared she jumps off a bridge.
How do you handle that one?
Say nothing?
Or risk a bad result if she did?

Walk away and act like you don't give a shit. The minute they know you care and she'll threaten it even more. Now he's gone back to her she can threaten it every time she wants and she knows he'll back down.
Its usually just attention/sympathy seeking to make the money train last a little longer. I've had 2 girls do it to me, one was even shown on local Channel 3 as she perched out on the ledge of my condo, place full of police and wannabee heroes, after trying to talk her down for 20 minutes, they grabbed her, pulled her in and then all packed up and left her with me ! No counseling, talk or anything, even the rescuers could see it for what it was.
That said, every situation is different, i'm sure there are real girls with real feelings out there, but you just have to use your gut feeling and common sense...unless you checked both at the airport of course.
Your friend is mad IMHO, she nags, fights and drinks, lifes too short and the world is full of new opportunities.
