In my opinion it isn't that bad.....
It's worse!!!
I have enough trouble taking a taxi... at least that way I can close my eyes. No way would I even think about driving. If I really needed a car, I spose I'd opt for a hiring a car complete with local driver.

It's easy enough.
Just have to get used to the optional red lights.
They do drive in the right (left ) side of the road.

Driving in Thailand is not that bad, if you're outside of
Bangkok - From my experience in driving in Bangkok,
you might end up missing turns due to bad lane
choices etc, especially if you don't have a friend that
can check the map for you or you know the area well.
Sometimes you can loose an hour by missing a turn and
getting stuck in traffic on the way back to where you
intended to go.

Driving in BKK is not that bad, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for tourists. If you live in the area outside of the city it's almost essential.

Driving in BKK is impossible and extremely ill-advised for a tourist, IMO. There are just so many reasons why it's a bad idea and I really can't think of any good ones.

From what I understand if you are involved in an accident you are in deep shit even if it is not your fault. The logic appears to be that the accident occurred because you were in Thailand.

Of course, that makes sense. If the farang had not come to Thailand the taxi driver hopped up on goofballs driving double the speed limit through a red light wouldn't have hit him and there wouldn't have been a problem. Stupid farang.
