Case of now you see it, now you dont, the 20/30 odd bars, pool places, internet shops etc, in the block between soi's 8-10 [ opposite the Ambassador] are now no more than a pile of rubble, surrounded by a fence topped with barb wire ! Mr Purachai at his best ?? - Noted lately more than a few bars in this locale "for sale" - pity all those Farangs, [ I think the majority of money invested in these bars was not local, ] who had got involved, seems they have done their investment cold, case of T I T !!

Not been past there this week but the owner of
this and the receiver of rent is the massage
king of the Davis Group, perhaps money no

Don't know when they started this, but like (I imagine) half the population of lower/middle Sukhumvit I was woken up by an infernal racket just before dawn. Sounded like there was a coup going on or something.
Went to see what was going on. Hundreds of BGs and punters on the opposite side of Suk, just watching the ship go down.
I've only ever visited the bars there once, and don't suppose I'll miss them. But this was not a happy scene. Ý

Interesting story unfolding here, seems that the police
were not party to this in which case the action
has a commercial angle similar to the saga across the road at Clinton Plaza where the new owners have been
trying to clear out the tenants for the last year in order
to build a hotel. Do not be surprised to hear that
big business decided to steam roller over these small
guys !

i was just about to write a nice report about the gogo on this premise, which was called studio 54.
it was decent place to hang around, new york guy owned with some former dollhouse clinton plaza girls!
could have been a very nice place but it seems they only got about 20 days to operate before they got torn down again!
sad story!

great example of why not to invest money in LOS - manyt of the bars/pool rooms/antique shops and internet centers in the block were funded by farangs, - that they had no idea, or wern't even given time to get chattels out, is unbelievable - the signs say "under the law of the ministry of the Interior" - who of course denies any knowledge, where was purachai and Bangkok finest I wonder, no doubt a little graft changed hands to assure they were watching karaoke bars for any late drinkers, rather than protecting the public and their property, this heavy handed act in a prime tourist area amazes/sickens me, - in a place where the Country badly needs tourist dollars, and we expats, are saying what a friendly and safe place it is ... heads should roll, but doubtless they wont, I guess an influx of P4Ps at soi 7/ Nana/ Thermae this week - or will they sit at home and wait to get a job in the new tesco-lotus store that will be probably be built on the site ?
