Has anyone been to the tiger temple, and if its worth the 10,000b for two people?

Yes I been there, in the past it was nice and not expensive.
Then it was only a handfull of monks taking care of the tigers and showing you around.
Nowaday the place is a total tourist trap, they exploit the tigers and are really taking the piss with their new price and the way they drag around tourists.
They raised allready many time the amounth to build the "tiger santuary" they speak about but yet nothing is built...

... my Thai daughter walked away from the her faith after a very ugly experience... broke my heart to see her loss of faith in her spiritual compass, but I could not deny her reasons for doing so... she says she can find no temples in which to pray where there is not a blatant plan to extract money from worshippers fully expecting to buy a better life, now (for monks) and next life (for hapless parishoners).
... sad, but consistent with the inferior Thai values... without in any real spiritual basis for so many Thais... religion as "opiate of the masses" couldn't be more true than in Thailand.
... so, when you pay to pet the tiger, believing it is used to build them a refuge, check out the cars in the employees parking lot... if not all, Thai values are overwhelmingly about money.

I have a farm in a very religious area on the Thai/cambodian border at the foothills of the mountain ranges where rain blesses the crops frequently and many cattle roam-
I was taken by the purity of the local monks many who had been enducted on that first full moon of july (when monks on mass are) when they were just eight years old-
Far from asking or extorting money they were humble and gracious- poor and true to form-
I dont for a second dispute other accounts and the areas in which this occurs- but the inner workings and faith of both the community and Monks in the above instance, was hard to question.

I have also seen bad side rurally in places like issaan which covers wide areas- and in the other regions- but maybe you should visit Madfrog as they do exist-
Thailand is not all bad some areas have very humble monks and village people-
One simple explaination might just be rainfall -
The area I refer to the people tend to work hard as a second crop is possible and many own life stock- coupled with a very close proximity to Cambodia and moutains- I think the gel of the community is based around hard work and faith-
I am being honest having stayed there for months at a time that it was very much refreshing to see from other experiences in rural Thailand in prior marriages-

The trappings are all the same, they just bear different names.

I went on a River Kwai with Tiger Temple full day tour. You get the Bridge over the River Kwai experience in Kanchanaburi, a half hour train journey over part of the track built by the POW's, and then visit the Tiger Temple for a couple hours
The Tiger Temple is good fun. Your admission allows you to pat the Tiger cubs & get your photo taken beside an adult Tiger. There's a fee for having your photo taken with a Tigers head in your lap (the money shot)
All up 1800 baht per adult includes lunch. Most travel shops offer this same trip so you don't have to book it through this one

In some ways yes-
Certainly there is rituals and so called dire warnings and rites of passage-
Buddhism seems a more simple if not strengthening type of mainstream relieve to the poor who obviously seek comfort-
The doing merit for instance is seen as both immediate reward for the faithful and long lasting-
There is less fear and more focus on the inner workings of the individual-
But it end there- and you see the distortions- the shift to material gain even being sanctioned by Buddha in name but not deed- people praying for lottery luck etc-
The preists are as a whole body more likely to commit child abuse on the western religion side - Monks dont even allow woman to touch them - and as far as I know the institution has few child sex cases on its books-
