Hi people I plan to stay at the Manhattan Hotel, and I've read that they have laundry service. Could some of you tell me if they offer a good service at a reasonable price? If not, what are the best options out of the hotel around the Sukhumvit area? A last question...is it considered bad manners to bring to a laundry your socks and underpants? (I imagine how they will smell at the end of a day in BKK ) Thanks in advance for your answers!

Well...in LOS some people dont even care how THINGS inside their underpants smells....why bother about underpants itself. Beside its always better to get it washed instead of keep wearing it for whole of your trip just becouse you are too shy to give it to the laundry. Dont worry...tell them in advance that PLEASE DO NOT BREATH WHILE WASHING MY SOCKS & UNDERPANTS....that will be enough..i guess. What is the meaning of a laundry then? Crop till drop !!

Welcome to the board Ned...... If you do laundry in your hotel it will be very expensive. Just look around for the first couple of days and find the laundrys on the street. The price is very cheap there. as far as your underwear goes....just wear the same pair the whole time...no problem. (more girls for me) Teach

Ned, Never stayed at the Manhattan. There is a laundry close by on the sub-soi connecting soi 15 and 19 (part of the 'Green Route'). Turn left out of the Manhattan & head for the Somerset. At the Somerset ('T' junction), turn right into the sub-soi ('Green Route'). On the right, about 1/3rd of the way between 15 & 19, you'll find a laundry with a fairly big shop front set back from the street. From memory, a shirt costs THB25 laundered. Cheers

There are guys on this board who are turned on by the thought of your dirty undies and will pay big money for them. For some strange reason it seems mainly guys from Canada are interested in this. Might be the looong winters up there. I'm sure you will get PM from them soon.

Hi Ned Another option is to buy new clothes when in Bangkok!!! I think that it would work out to be cheaper... I do not know the rates for the laundary service but still if you pay 50-100 bhats for a T-Shirt you could get a new shirt in BKK at the stores or even for that matter at the night markets at 150-200 Bhats. Wear it for some time and then you could always throw them away when you leave LOS...

The laundrys there are "traditional", coin-operated american style or both types can be found?

Ned: Your original post raises this question in my mind....What do you do with your dirty undies now? You might want to consider washing them out by hand before turning them in to the laundry. Or you can do like I do and buy only black undies. The skid marks don't show on them.
