I have decided to write my term paper on Thailands' sex industry as I will be as much a part of it this coming August. I will be writing from a sociological perspective which should the following:
#1) Prostitution is illegal in Thailand but the Thai government seems to allow it. I suppose for economical reasons. But why the double standard. Is it because of the Buddhist religion?
#2) Are these women actually be exploited by the bar owners or is it due to their strong family customs that the girls feel it necessary to provide for their family back at home? Is it always the poor and uneducated women choosing this profession? Or are these girls been told that they will be making an honest living and find out differently when they get to their destination?
#3) What happens to the BGs after they get older and not able to compete in the 'skin trade' anymore? Do they go back home? What do they do?
#4) I don't want to focus on individual cases but rather have a macro view of the whole issue. I need at least six professional journals on this subject to reference my paper to. Any leads and insight to the above questions would help me out a lot as I do this paper. My teacher is a real bitch too and a feminist as well. So I may have to cater somewhat to her "men-are-evil", women-are-the-victim" bullsh_t in order to get a decent grade.

I suggest you change topics. Really.
How can I say this nicely?.... from reading the threads you start, I do not think that what you end up writting will in any way be helpful to Thailand in any way. Actually, you may probably help giving ammunition to those in the west that read your paper and who already have a distorted prejudiced view.
