Murf Yes, Elvis drinks there every Thursday at 6pm with the Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and a rather ancient and decrepit Glen Miller, who the FLs tell me can't get it up without using at least two of the blue diamonds. John Lennon, Che Guevara and James Dean are Wednesday night people. Dotcom Why should the French worry whether one of their words was mispelt in a Newbie thread? Perhaps they're more Laissez Faire about things than you.

Greetings Fellows! I much appreciate all the helpful tips. I know this trip is going to be an unbelievably amusing experience. Thanks Oz for breaking it down; and please don't be insulted by my well-meaning term "homies". As an American male under 30 from a metropolitan area...hip hop has simply been a part of my cultural landscape. Think of it as a regional dialect. And while I'm White as an albino snow monkey; one thing about hip hop culture...it doesn't discriminate. Hugh, Skip, SM...you guys know what's up. Tyler; I can't fault your fine choice of booze. To each his own. Ahh...we come to dotcom. I saved all my ghetto slang for you: Don't front on Ronnie Raygun just coz he clowned you. He's not trying to be a "big man". What he IS...is a smart man. So recognize! You talk all this mess about "Frogs" this and "f***" that...I am thinking that you are not very nice. It's all good tho' I ain't even gonna trip off it. I'm just tryin' to hit up the OG's for some street knowledge. Just don't hate on a playa...or ya might get lyrically schooled. But seriously folks, I'll be in BKK within the week. Would any of you gentlemen be interested in imbibing an adult beverage or three? You pick the spot, I'll bring the bhat. And so...salutations to all as I bid you..."Adieu."

TD- as an aside: What do you think of someone who would pour Coke into Chivas? I think they should be taken out & horsewhipped in front of the bar. _____________________________________________ Now please let me take a stab at answering the newbs questions. I am starting to get the hang of this. If you are too lazy to read the forum, if you like taking shortcuts, if you like posting inane drivel posing as a "newbie" there is an easy way to do it. Begin you post with a big shout out to BK "Thanks Man For Keepin' It Real" Huh? Methinks the members keep it real. Anyhow food we got - Bar B Q - read the restaurants threads - VoBKa - bring your own. It will cost you less & you will be sure to get the brand you want. Air Quality is sure to be 50 to 100 times better than California. Carpe Diem

Gwailo, Interesting question about air quality. I always thought BKK had bad air quality, worse than Los Angeles. Since you asked, I did a little googling and found these factoids: * World Bank/Stockholm Development Institute (08/24/2001) World Bank says Asia's air pollution now worse than Europe and North America combined, causes tens of thousands of deaths each year. Pollution in Asia has worsened in the last year and is directly responsible for the death of tens of thousands in Beijing, Jakarta, Seoul, Bangkok and Manila, according to the World Bank and the Stockholm Development Institute (SDI). SDI says the region's sulfur dioxide, ammonia and nitrogen oxides have been rising steadily over the past few decades and ground level ozone concentration has increased to the point where air pollution in the continent has now surpassed the combined emissions of Europe and North America. Worsening air pollution in the Asian region in the past two years has resulted to two dangerous effects to health - premature mortality and excess cases of bronchitis, both caused by exposure to high levels of fine particulate matter. The deaths caused by fine particulate matter in the atmosphere exceed those caused by sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, ozone and lead, World Bank said in expressing alarm over the worsening phenomenon. The World Bank said in its 2000 Annual Review that in Manila alone, more than 4,000 Filipinos die because of air pollution. The mortality figure is the third highest for a city in the East Asian region after Beijing and Jakarta. Bangkok and Seoul were ranked 4th and 5th. * United Nations/Yale University Already, Asia has what many experts consider the dirtiest water in the world, the filthiest air, the most worrisome overfishing, and the fastest-disappearing coral reefs. One study by the United Nations suggested that 13 of the 15 cities with the worst air pollution in the world are in Asia. "The worst pollution in the world is unequivocally in Asia," said Daniel C. Esty, director of the Center for Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University and co-author of a new book on Asia-Pacific environmental issues. "The statistics about China are stunning, and right behind those Chinese cities stand almost every other major city of Asia: Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta are all right up there among the top polluted cities of the world." * World Health Organization (WHO) In 2001 WHO ranked Jakarta, Indonesia; Calcutta, India; and Bangkok, Thailand as the three worst areas for particulate air pollution in the world.

Fortunately BKK's air quality may be improving. A December 2002 World Bank environmental report said that air quality in Thailand has actually improved significantly in the past decade, and that Bangkok's air is now rated ahead of Beijing, Jakarta, New Delhi and Manila (although still worse than Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo, according to the report).

Just a FYI bro- PM your dates to Dark Knight, ask for inclusion in "Members Schedule", as well as looking on the schedule for members you have an interest in meeting, PM them and set up your meeting times. Don't overbook brothers meetings that intrude into your mongering activities, and make it clear to all that you're butterflying, that is f***ing around, and not sitting over beers for hours. Have a good one.
