Lucky, I was pissed and didnt take a bigger step, otherwise I would have been f***ed.
As the others have said, walk when the locals walk, stay in the pack, I do now.

I've read some pretty unreal comments on BKK Tonight (I've contributed a few myself), but a lengthy discussion on how to cross the street has to take the prize. Assuming the guy isn't a wind-up troll who is just having everyone on, he has no business even contemplating a trip to Bangkok if he's unsure about crossing streets.

Crossing streets is similiar to bargaining P4P,, its bluff and moove, moove and bluff,,,
I wish I could remember those sword fighting terms,, par and ???
Anyway,, the car has the size/strength, you have your gaul and "farangness", you stare him down, he mooves forward, you glare!!!etc etc,, can last maybe 5 seconds till victor comes through,,,,

Appearently no one is reading your posts and this sureal thread continues. I hope this guy is a troll because if he is not this needs to be reported to the authorities. amberkane should not be let out of his house much less be allowed to travel out of his country..

Nope I'm not a troll It was an honest question (though a pretty stupid one), I'd read somewhere (not on this forum) that one should stay on the even side on sukumvit because of the problems of getting across it.

Was it lonely Planet?? A riot to see how far those guys are besides the point!!! Worth to remember was a thread I opened beore my first or second trip to Myanmar, asking for girlie places and especialy discos as that's what I like.
Got a few flames as usual in this board when U hint U might get a hardon looking at asian girls... then the seemingly most open minded guy on the thread contacted me via PM. Said he could understand my human feelings but he was very well aware of what was going on in Yangon and his family or his friends were still staying there and there was no way to mingle with locals, let alone screw their girls... EPC and EP are right, if this is not a troll then I am a BG.
This sad excuse for a human being told us so in his first post. "... though from my expericences of BKK..."
So he has been in BKK. And he likes the tuk-tuk's. So what is the question about????? Been there; done that!
And then his reply. Yeah, right! People that want to cross the road first go to the airport to board a plane to Cambodia or Malasia, then they take the train or bus back just to get on the other side of Suk. People that have the bad luck of being born on the wrong side of the track... eh... road have to wait for the airport near Pattaya to open, so they can board a plane to the BKK airport.
I think BK has to take out his Big Book Of Ban and write this "Amber should be caned" name in it. Atleast in pencil.

I wonder if somebody should tell him that people are born and raised on the even numbered side of the street and never get over to the odd side their entire lives. These people are known as "Eveners" and the others are obviously known as the "Odders"

I remember having read about that its-difficult-to-cross-sukhumvit-story in a field report on whorist.com some three or more years ago.
As far as I remember that punter reported also about having his purse stolen by a lady (boy) at a casual encounter on sukhumvit.

I just assumed that the term 'difficult to cross' suggested just that, that there were few crossing points such as flyovers or traffic lights. The part of bangkok I've stayed in before wasnt like that.
