Can't beat it in my book, although I agree with you still too many of those bloody natives around the place, I normally like to work up a thirst beforehand with a game of fives.

Ok I got one - Siriraj Medical Museum. It's across the river. Mummified mass murders, fetuses of Siamese twins and other weird birth defects, body parts of murder and accident victims, collections of parasites, and huge centipedes all on display.
You won't be impressed by the old wooden and glass showcases, and many displays only have Thai captions, but definitely a unique museum.
Does anyone know why Thais would mummify a mass murderer and put him on display? If we did that in the US, that would immortalize him and encourage a lot of lunnies to do the same thing. This has to be a cultural difference. I thought maybe people in LOS feel safer if they know where See-Uey is, but my friend pointed out that maybe you can't go to rest unless you're burried in the ground, and he's in a glass display case.

They had something like this on the discovery channel recently -- apparently, you can't get released from your mortal coil unless your body is properly cremated/buried -- thus, the mummification (I gather) is an especially cruel method, locking his soul in place, and preventing him from cycling.
There's a good horror movie in that, somewhere.

Things to do, nonsexual:
Neilsson-Hays English Language Library, Suriwong Road, Bangkok. Great ambience. Great books.
Little India, Pahurat District, Bangkok. Wonderful taste of Bombay/Calcutta/Delhi. Delightful shops, great food, you name it.........
Chinatown/Yaowarah District, Bangkok. Lots of gold shops, Chinese apothecaries, succulent roasted duck, it's all here.

Safari World outside Bangkok nice daytime excursion. Apart from various shows a 45 minute drive around in a bus to see various animals. Love the sign entering the Lion's enclosure "Beware Lion's are dangerous".
