I concur with the Dr. I've only been back to 4 BGs rooms, 3 of those lived alone for the reasons stated - 'stealing, cheating, loud mouth roommates', the other actually had 2 places, one paid for by her sponsor and the place she actually stayed, shared with her butch looking tomboy 'friend' 
Can't say the 'friend' was too happy with my visits

Probably the biggest collection live in the apartment blocks at Petchburi soi 42/1... although I have found them in apartments all over the city - usually no hot water or aircon, and in the 2500-4000bt range, if higher than that, usually a sponser is paying - One girl will have the room, but as they generally dont like to sleep alone [ fear of Phi/Ghosts] they will always have some friends, or desperates with no money, sleeping there as well. Days are spent watching Tv and playing cards, along with the mandatory drinking and eating, all paid for by however got lucky the night before - or whoever's 'sponser' has recently paid up !

Kinda like the way some of us lived in the 60s (without the sponsor, of course).

on the contrary west,the place she has from the sponser would have been all she needed, but she won't live alone, so she lives at the lower standard place with a partner /friend (s). the higher standard sponser paid place has to be kept for dopeybollocks sponser to 'see'

Funny, I think I really got to know her this last visit....danger sign?

Luxery depends on how long she worked and how popular she is.
Saw a room with only a mattress on the floor, stuff like clothes put together in plastic bags.....up too a really nice appartment with TV-DVD set,mp3 players etc.

Her room (with ore without girlfriends) suppose to be her "private" place, some kinda "neutral ground", that why you can't "boomboom" there.
There are exeptions (friend of mine moved in with his TBG)

I have been to the apartments of two "working" girls. One live with her younger sister in a studio type apartment (no kitchen), very clean, basic furniture but in new condition. Rent 4000. No A/C. Another girl lived alone (may be b/f was away, I don't know) in an AC apartment on 10th floor of an apartment complex. One room with basic facilities, no kitchen but very clean. Rent 5000

I have been to several family and/or BG homes. All were pretty standard thai dwellings. One room with one toilet/shower unit. Price around 2000 baht a month. No AC or running hotwater. Sometimes the walls (inside) were of concrete, sometimes some wood with chickenwire seperated them from the family nextdoor. Although it is far below our standard of living they keep it clean and it is liveable. But it is very basic and your 500 baht hotelroom is already something that only Bill Gates could afford..... in the girls mind. So they will gladly go with you and do an LT and have some luxury.
So far not much different to posts above mine.
What struck me (now; after the fact) is the fact that the sence of community is far greater then ours in some cases. When a room is shared, it is shared with gays or ladyboys or neighbors far more often then you would expect in our countries. They mingle very easy, where we would think they would stick to their own groups.
A girl with a baby goes to work in the day and the family next door will care for it.
The girl organized a party for me, the gays and the girls; and one neighbor supplied the DVD player, an other the VCD's and the microphone (karaoke), an other some food items. The apartmentblock turned into a micro-village.
These are things you don't see often in the west anymore.
So if you never went home with the BG's, then try it. Chances are high it will enrich your life or your view of the world.
