Descrimination exists EVERYWHERE,, best to grow up accept it and moove onto other places.
Would I be offended if one of the bars began a "no blue eyed people policy " ?? no worries 247 other bars just down the road.
If a bar introduced a no Aussie policy,, no problems another 246 bars,,, I hope people get the bloody point,,, just get on with fun and don't get side tracked with silly descrimination crap.
Enjoy,,,,,,, I doubt you will have the time or energy to fully enjoy the other 247 bars

I say Pacus old chap. if you do indeed experience any trouble entering some of the rather dubious haunts mentioned on this web site, please do post their names.
And then I for one will avoid those establishments...as many members of this club have a very high regard for the hospitable manner in which our troops were entertained in Ceylon during the last show ( 1939-45 war).
The Nana bars in my book have no business excluding chaps on account of their skin colour; although one or two may require one to wear a tie............just ragging!

It is tough but the discrimination is not aimed at you. It is the reputation left by some of your countrymen that you are encountering.
I have seen it being an American in the bars in Japan in some areas.
Thais expect the Japs to have to pay bigger prices etc

discrimination exists in every part of the world, los is no exception. I have seen a bouncer put his hands on a bro of greek descent and ask him where he's from, apperantly thinking he might be a threat or something.
I pulled the bouncer's hands away and told him he's my friend, the bouncer backed off but my friend was fuming and didn't want to go in, totally understandable, so we walked another 30 yards and went into another gogo bar.
on a side note, I'm asian american but once I got some thug looking dude in front of a gogo putting his hands on me and asking me where I was from, I was a noob back then and was ready to throw down with this fool, but my aussie friend waved him off and later told me most of the bars don't allow thais in there and I guess the guy thougth I was thai. This only happened once though out of the 20+ gogo bars I've been to.

I've often seen Thais in GoGo Bars, even Thai men too! Seriously though, I've seen Thai chaps in several of the bars in Nana and the times that I can remember, they actually paid their bar bills!

the ones in uniform (but not wearing it) were the only ones I ever saw inside gogo bars
I know the manager of one of the gogo bars in pattaya and he tells me the owner knows hte police chief well and every once in a while off duty cops will come in and have some fun, of course everything's on the house

It ain't too much of a problem. If you have meet a caucasian friend and go in together no problem at all, though that seems kind of lame to go around trying to meet someone for the purpose. Anyway, as mentioned, you're researching it maturely and I wish you the happiest experiences. I've seen many a South Asian in go go's, no problem, have a good time, man. I'm sure you will. Thai are tolerant when it comes to fun and money. Regardless of predominately Isaan girls' preferences (mostly for money), South Asians who look Indian are a large and contributing member of Bangkok society and can get around to most places, in my experience. Probably Patpong and Soi Cowboy more than Nana---though someone on the forum may have more info on that, it's been discussed in other threads too.
Africans less so, but that's another subject on this forum too.
