Best rule of thumb for a newbie.... one that BK told me years ago.... is to identify well known hotel near the location you wish to go to. In that way there is little chance that the driver will try to take you to a punter-trap.
For example, when you go to NEP ask for the Nana Hotel (it is across the street). When you want Soi Cowboy the Jasmine Suites is closest (also across the street). For Queens Park Complex try the Imperial Queens Park Hotel (about 50M further down Soi 22 from QPC).
This will work for most any major location you want to go to...

Snoops nails it there. How many bros actually can distinguish the average Indian male from a Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Sri Lankan ? They all look, behave, sound and smell alike. Even Indians can't tell them apart on a cursory glance.
