Hi TPE -
Can you tell me when Chinese New Year happens this year? I got mixed up in this in Singapore last year, and while it was interesting seeing the activities, it resulted in a lot of businesses being shut down for a couple of days. Does this happen much in Bangkok, as well?

But CNY does not have the devastasting effect in Thailand that is does in Sg. Except maybe in Sampeng (Bkk Chinatown).
Most businesses remain open, the city does not empty as for Songkran, Loy Kratong or farang NY, the bars are open and the girls, mostly not Chinese, are working.
