i will be doing the exact same kind of stuff just kind of winging it around. did so on my last stay and had no real problems. i will be arriving in bkk feb 7 hanging out there for a couple days then moving on to pattaya and then to chiang mai. let me know if you want to meet up.

Hey brother Padawan, welcome to the Jedi brotherhood. If you were planning this trip in May or after I would say you would have no problem making your plans on the fly once you get there. However you've already stated how hard it was getting a room so far and you could be in for more of the same. You've scheduled your trip during high tourist season which means hotel rooms are a scarce commodity. Try your best to make as many plans now before you go rather then risk going all that way and spending a good part of your vacation looking for a place to stay that doesn't come with hot and cold running roaches  . thanks for the reply. i think i'll take of some of both yours and cmore's advice, planning some stuff but winging it for part of the trip. email me if you're still in BKK on the 10th and want to have a few drinks. i would appreciate the on-site advice/navagation.

I'll let my remark stand. This is not a time for either irony or jocularity. Three nations (USA, India, and Israel) are united in grief for their lost astronauts. That's about a billion and a half mourners. If Yurune doesn't care to grieve, at least he should have had the decency not to mock.
