Says the Bangkok Metropolitan Water Authority.

I didn't say I'd live on it...I still drink bottled water....but I ingest more than enough tap water to say I've survived....hell bottled water is 12B for 19 litres (dunno why its not 20...but my bottles say 19)...so it'd be silly not to...but generally the tap water is safe.

JackRabbit present...

I sign pingas comment. In  Singha-water you'll get also salt & minerals you need to keep the water inside.
If your saltlevel is too low , you sweat it all out.

Test for salt : shake some salt to your hand and taste it.
If You can NOT feel the taste of salt = TOO LOW !

tap water is drinkable, at least a lot of the tg do drink and myself i use it for cooking and my afternoon coffee or tea! still alive and didn't get anything from it yet!
by the way the bigger places do have their own ice machines these days and they do use of course tab water as anything else would be to expensive!

I saw an article in I think The Nation a few weeks ago that the great drink 5 litres of water each day to keep you healthy was a myth.

They worked out that there is so much water in the food we eat that we maybe only need to drink half that.  Think of eating an orange / pineapple / watermelon.  How much liquid is in there?  It all adds up.

However, back to the question.  Yes I think that may be too little.  but it depends how you spend your day, inside all day, ok.  Outside walking, far too little.  Add in the alcohol anti hangover drink before bedtime who knows.

I am not a great fan of water drinking at any time but last May / June I was doing maybe 2-3 litres during work/travelling time.  Then maybe another 1 - 1.5 outside that.  If you buy water, mineral water is better than just drinking water to avoid medical problems with dehydration.

A lot of how much you need will depend on your body and how it handles heat.  Just wait until you arrive here and adjust as you need to.

Besides water, I also throw down a bottle or two of gatorade a day while there, replaces lost salts and electrolytes, and really helps with a hangover.

94f  for april, some might say thats the average, but midday in bangkok in april the temp is more likely to be around 100f.
There is a change you can notice around the end of January, happened again this year. One week I was o.k. with just the fan on at night, the next week A/C had to come on.

Yurne------The tap water in LA is "officially"drinkable, though dead guys regularly turn up in the aquaducts here, I'll stick to the spring water in the bottles. I'm such a stickler too, I prefer "spring" water if I can get it because it does contain more minerals, than "drinking" water, which has been filtered and reverse osmosised, etc., leeching the minerals out. I'd wrote in another thread about drinking ETOH on the street that I reserve the walking, and strolling about to drinking bottled water, available at any convenience store. I myself sweat like a pig in Thailand, at least for several days upon arrival, and find myself constantly thirsty, so in that climate it's a no brainer to try to hydrate as often as possible.

Personally, I prefer to drink bottled water - as long as it has some malt and hops mixed in with it. Yum yum.
