i took 4 bottles of my home brew batch last trip, and was accused quite unfairly i thought of partially blinding the bloke in my wifes village that drunk it at room temperature... (which with experimental home brew is a no no in oz even)... i later found out he was on anti biotics for his fingers that were damaged badly....BUT i concurr that with ice is nice

Kev29, I am sorry, but guess you do not know much about your wines, as you say "a Margaux" (notice I corrected your bad spelling), which certainly is not the same as saying a "Chateaux Margaux".
There are many Margaux, bad, mediocre and good. But there is only one 1er Grand Cru Classe Chateaux Margaux (there are only 5 Premier Crus in total).
A Margaux wine is not a big deal, unless it comes from a good vineyard. But a bottle of Chateaux Margaux, most likely is a big deal for wine enthusiasts.

AS it happens smeg, I do know a fair bit about wines, and would take on most challanges regarding them. For example, when you say there are only 5 premier crus in total, you are talking pants.
Sure a bog standard margaux can be harmless enough, but as a fan of all bordeau's, esp margaux and St Juliams (I like the dominant cabernet savignon, yet with the cabernat franc, and merlot coming through), I agree with chrissyboy, that when you see guys chilling a margaux (of any std) they should be shot

I do not know about your list for Bordeaux, but here is mine -well, not really my list, it comes from a classification of 61 of the most well know Medoc Chateaux instigated by Napoleon III for the "1855 Exposition Universelle de Paris."
With the exception of the elevation of Mouton Rothschild to Premier Cru Classé in 1973, the list remains unchanged today.

For the sake of brevity I will leave out for now Troisièmes Crus Classés (Third Growths), Quatrièmes Crus Classés (Fourth Growths) and Cinquièmes Crus Classés (Fifth Growths).
Or were you thinking of playing smart by adding Ausone and Cheval Blanc from the different recent classification of St. Emilion of 1996? -St Emilion wines were never included in the original classifications, despite having having those 2 superb Chateaux just mentioned.
Or did you have in mind adding Ch. Petrus and Le Pin as "first growths" -no matter how good they are, Pomerol is still the only fine wine district of Bordeaux never to have been classified- thus cannot count it.
Real wine connoiseurs know what they are talking about when dicussing the classification and labeling of french wines. So, do not come and pull a language technicality and add different classes of wines (perhaps adding Sauternes -a white wine- to the discussion) to try and look like you know a lot. The more you say, the more you keep showing you do not know much.
Now, lets stick to beer in Thailand, which I am sure you know more about and that is what most likely interest the majority here. If you want to dicsuss personal tastes PM me. I can share my notes with you from my most recent tastings of red Bordeaux.

Agree lets stick to thailand. Will point out that in your initial mail you stated there are only 5 premiere crus, in the second you stated premier cru classe. No doubt this is what you had in mind (and was probably implied in you mail)
AS I'm sure you know (its obvious you do know your stuff) with the exception of st emillions - where the classification system allows so many classes (esp in grand cru) - The difference between a premier cru and a premier cru classe can be nothing short of immeasurable (especially when it comes to rarity value and price).
Anyway - lets as you suggest, stick to beer in THailand, and when I am next in BKK we can share a bottle in some of the more reasnoable winespots in BKK as outlined in a previous thread - I'm buying.
