Pattaya and BKK are equally clean/dirty. Depends on how you look at it.
I've always had a good time in BKK. It's more expensive, traffic is harder to deal with. Much more air pollution in BKK then Pattaya.
When you come back give Pattaya a try. Most guys seem to prefer it over BKK. I know I do.

If you only come for pussy Pattaya is fine...personally I wouldn't bother, it's not Thailand as far as I'm concerned. I could certainly get bored there.
Actually I really would be interested to see if your last statement is true, I'd start a thread to find out, but the chances of limiting anyone on this forum to a one word answer Bangkok / Pattaya would be impossible...

When you come back give Pattaya a try. Most guys seem to prefer it over BKK. I know I do.
To each his own, but I'm not quite sure that's true. It would be interesting to see the results of a forum vote. There's no doubt that Pattaya is cheaper than BKK and easier to get around but personally I find the place to be a sh_thole. Of course, that's just one guys opinion. YMMV.

I liked BKK and Pattaya. For beaches and islands, Pattaya beats BKK. The beer bars are a nice break from the usual go go bars of BKK. As you know, they have some good seafood restaurants as well.
For anyone else
Pattaya isn't dirty as some people describe it. Its clean and the beach makes it look nice as well. The thing I didn't like about it was the traffic going down the soi streets where the bars are and too many motor bikes.

If a million people "choose" Chrisitianity without ever understanding or trying Buddhism, Mohamedanism, Judaism or Confucianism, is that really a choice?
If you asked a million people who had never left their home town in Iowa for their opinion of Paris, France, would those opinions have any value?
Do any of those millions -- or the Righteous Defenders here -- know enough about the history of Buddhism (in general or specifically in Thailand) or the evolution of religious architecture or any of the other prime motivators to really understand what you are looking when you visit a temple?
I know the answer is no -- a resounding no. They just show up with their cameras and their bad tourist shoes and their preconceptions, wander around like idiots, gape and gawk and think they know something.
There's a gross difference between the awe that results from ignorance and the awe that results from knowledge. Being gobsmacked simply because something is big and shiny clearly belongs to the former.
A quality lay on the cheap is something everyone can understand if they've tried it. These matters are direct and experiential; nothing beats a hot girl in your bed and money in your pocket.
I've seen the "muddy old rivers and reclining Buddhas" and I'm not interested in pissing away my life trying to arrive at what would be, at best, an incomplete and abstract understanding of them. Give me the tangible and subjective any day.
I stand by my previous assertion.
