Popsecret....Your right reflecting on a traveller that does not wish to make even a ripple...for a relaxing time.

The point I was suggesting was that one hope things improve and that one location where someone was previously refused on a particular night, may not be tested for changes if the previous refusal is reinforced by possibly dated advice, given over and over.

It doesn't hurt to try and test out new positivity. That is how things change, and how new reports get noted.

Hi.

You will not have any problems at most beer bars. The go-go bars are where is the most discrimination. I have been refused entry into most of the go-go bars in NEP, Suzie Wong in Soi Cowboy and most of the go-go bars in Pattaya. The excuse that was most often used was that it was for "member's only".

No problem for me - I tend to go to the beer bars and soapies for my entertainment. The GG bars also tend to be overpriced as well.

If you do want to visit the GG bars, hook up with soem of the fellow boardies - they tend not to refuse you entry is you are in a group.

Hope this helps.

I got that same impression from many of the girls I spoke to, that they really don't like Indian nationals - the problem appears to have to do that Indian guys like to hit or beat the girls (no idea fi that's true or not, just reporting what I keep hearing) - so as a result, all Indian folks are looked upon not kindly.

If that's the reason, and you know that, you should be able to beat the stereotype by wearing a t-shirt that just says "I'm American, not Indian"

Now I wonder what would inspire a white guy to ask a number of TG's if they like East Indian fellas.

Doing a survey for an upcoming documentary on harmony between the races are we Harry?

Or merely fostering your slighly 'white' views as a way of putting down others of a different colour than you?

Enquiring minds need to know.

something similar to what Harry said.

i happened to be in Patong a couple of times during Cobra Gold and in my #1 Go-Go I noticed something happen more than once when Negro Servicemen entered the place.
around a quarter of the Girls would disappear upstairs to their changing rooms.
when I asked about this I was told that some Girls just did not like coloured Men.
they were subject to a small fine whenever they did this, but in the end it was their choice.

Being of indian descent (well, half of me anyway) here are my bits-

cant say that ive been to all the mps or bars but when in bkk ive never been turned down. In Mp's or gogo bars ive had the tgs swarming over me and beconing me as they will to any white tourist.

I was dressed as a typical tourist so I dont think it has anything to do with the dress code. I think its more about theway u carry yourself- speak, look etc. I hate to say this but your typical indian stares a tad much and doesnt want to fork up money for a beer while enjoying a gogo show.

But as ive said before in a previous thread. Dont let this worry u. If you are constantly thinking " is this place colour friendly" then u are just going to ruin your trip.

enjoy

Ui

Well living here for 9 years, I never had problems with any of the mentioned establishments on this forum. As Urban image has mentioned "I was dressed as a typical tourist so I dont think it has anything to do with the dress code. " I totally agree with him, its not the dress code but its how you express yourself on that particular occasions. But I have heard from few of my friends that they had unfriendly receptions from certain MP's and I had visited those places but never had any problems. So even wearning a t-shirt that just says "I'm American, not Indian" won't help.

Arramsay! are you there?

The only overt signs of discrimination I've seen in Bangkok over the past few years have been the many (particularly around the KSR area and on several beaches) signs saying 'No Israelis'.

I had read somewhere that in the past, the Indian men were very abusive to the TG's. So much so that the Thai gov't had restricted the entry of Indian male tourists into the country for a period of time. I do not know for sure if this is true, just passing on what I read.
