Hi new here, well sort of. I have been to this forum some years ago when I belived I could get a holiday to Thailand.... *sob*. But I have 5 weeks (paid) off this year. Now to my newbie question. I am looking at flights to Thailand from Australia (melb). My holiday time is slotted in at May but the flights cost around $1500au return, Searching other months I can get around $800au-$900au in Sept and Oct. Is that the off seasion? or IS there a off seasion at all in Thailand? Basicly my holiday I am hopeing to stay 2-3 weeks. About 10%-15% of it sightseeing stc... but the rest..... (hmmmm just thinking about it) so if that is the off seasion (weather etc..) will it still good to travel at that time? Thats it for the moment, as this question couldn't be found by seasch (plus I need to tell the boss soon when I am taking time off)

Apr-Oct are the off season for Thailand as fewer people travel there from Europe at that time. Thailand has only two seasons - hot and wet, hot and dry - think Darwin. Phuket low season - Apr-Oct also but still good to travel there then. Pakage deals to Phuket for a fortnight should total only about $A1200 ex-Melb including single surcharge (or find a mate to go with you?). Get a hotel in Patong. Flights only is the expensive way to go. Enjoy.

Cool thanks, I am a real virgin when it come to holidays. Never been west of ballarat and further north then the sunshine coast so planning and traveling overseas is real new to me. Just as long there is pleanty of girls around during the off seasion I wouldn't mind the weather too much :P With package deals (airfairs, hotels etc..) is it still possible to bring girls LT back to the hotels used in these packages? (basicly I was to spend as much time I can having *fun* as this holiday may be a one off, depending on my job heheh)

If you do go with a package deal make sure of two things in regard to hotel to help avoid problems brings back guests. First make sure the hotel is guest friendly – you can search or ask on this site to confirm. Second book the room as a double occupancy room (will probably cost more). In regard to time of the year I would avoid April – too hot. Late May thru very early Oct are best IMHO. Low season equates to less punters, but there are always plenty of TG’s – so I enjoy the low seasons here more than the high seasons. In regard to Phuket, BKK, Pattaya – Everyone on this forum probably has different feelings on what is the best place for girls, sightseeing, etc. If you want to fix your costs up front go ahead and book a week at each. If you want to have a bit more freedom simply book a flight into BKK and a hotel for a few nights and take things as they come. Enjoy your holiday.

I last stayed there in April, will be staying there again in October. There's been construction there for the last 2 years, it's never been a problem for me at all.

Nakaleen....My mate and I were in Patong May this year. Read the FR here http://bkkx.com/cgi-bin/forum/topic.cgi?forum=21&topic=571&start=10 If the link doesn't work go to the Phuket section of the Bangkok forum and find the Two aussie newbies patong summary. Yes it was low season and also start of wet season but we still had a ball though daytime activities were curtailed a bit due to an onshore wind (jet skiing, diving etc ) and generally murky water. Good deals to be had through travel agents but most travel agents don't deal with the hotels that have a "no joiner" policy at least as far as Patong goes. Seems like nearly all in Pattaya are no joiner...I guess they'd go out of bussiness if they tried to charge a fee. I'm assuming the may airfare you quoted was for next year. Those prices will come down as you get closer to the date. I think the airlines just list the regular price then discount closer to the date to fill seats. I'm travelling again in Oct/Nov and got return airfare MLB to BKK for around 950. Worth looking at will be the Jet Star fares...they are beginning flights to BKK from Nov 23 and are saying they will be cheaper with a "buy your own food" class for the budget conscious traveller. If you spend some time in Bkk consider a tour with Dr Love. You will find details on his tours elsewhere on the forum. All the best, Wokka

Leeroy, Nana car park is basically all about FL opportunities. With the closing times in BKK swinging between 1-2AM, many of the lovely ladies of the night who are either up for at least one more round, or who have yet to land that big fish find themselves in or around the Nana car park. Throw in a few lady boys and a bunch of Farang that have been drinking all day and you might start to get a picture. It’s pretty much everybody (TG’s, Ladyboys, and Farangs) last chance to find that special someone for that night. A sight that every newbie should experience.

Thanks! Sounds like a great place! Your description reminds me of the shittest 'nightclub' in my town back home. I'll definitely give it a shot - do you recommend a newbie picking up girls here?
