I never understood why a person would have to travel all the way to LOS and pay to have a GFE.
I would much rather save the GFE for when I am with my GF and go P4P when I need a reminder of why it is important to have a 'significant other' in your life.
In the Navy we used to call P4P 'Preventave Maintenance', I still think this applies..

For some, the GFE in LOS gives many (but certainly not all) of the benefits of a "real" relationship without all the hassles. A GFE means not needing to give emotional support in their life, not having to deal with their family and friends, not having to nurture to their "motherly" needs, not having to be with them when they are on the rag, not having to go somewhere you don't want to go and do things you want to do. etc.
And some people just do not like to sleep alone.
Many people who have a GFE here are perfectly happy with their "non-LOS life", and simply find that, as opposed to just going short-time, hanging around with fun, cute, carefree girls is not a bad way to spend time here.
You may have to go through a LOT of girls in order to find ones that you have tons of care-free fun with. Screwing many girls increases your chances of finding fun ones FOR YOU. A given girl might be "fun" for one guy and a nightmare for another. YMMV for sure.

I think you have put very well what I have tried to explain to many of my S/T using mates.
Unfortunately, I put so much time/care into the TG for GFE selection process (which is good fun BTW), I usually hang on to them for much longer than is smart (even tour after tour). For instance I have spent 18 nights with my current regular over the last four tours so I've got myself a little attached.
For example she used to say "I see you? or you butterfly tonight?", but now says "when we go home darling?" or worse "when you come to bangkok? last week? you go soi33 before you see me? hmmmm....it's ok" but it's not (is it) wwoops.
They too seem to get attached, but as we all know they are very good actresses, and it's probably more to do about baht.
FWIW though this arrangement can have it's problems, I think it's been well worth the GFE's I have had.
Still, a good butterfly night really does help deliver a reality check for both parties!hehehehe.
Back onto the thread topic: a similar situation with her predecessor was a bad experience, that saw me unable to operate in nearly every bar in my favourite hunting ground. I think this could happen with this one if I'm not careful - what a network they have!
GFE devotees have gotta watch out for this problem, but hey, we take the good with the bad.

There are two girls I see on a fairly regular basis (each visit) that I have a GFE with. I do not butterfly in their bars. Not worth it, I don't want to pull other girls from their bar, and there are tons of other places to go where I will have more fun.

The other one sometimes asks, and I give her an acceptable answer. As a matter of fact, she called me 2 minutes ago and asked me "what are you doing?" I did not tell her "I am about to wake 36KiloSoiCowboyGirl up and get a blowjob."  There would be no reason to share that with her, just like she would not tell me "now I stay with my Thai boyfriend".
