i do not know where you are from,but bassgod and i are from a certain area in a certain country where when we go out [or in my case] go to work i can smell the aroma they give off.
neither of us is saying this makes the people a bad person.
but if you want me to be controversial,i will go further and incer the wrath of bkkz.
i will tell of the races I THINK have a smell.

One of the interesting things about "political correctness" is that it can cause one to deny reality, even in the face of that reality. People from some countries have more of a funk than others. Yes, this is a broad generalization and all generalizations are false (;)), but it's to an extent an undeniable truth. However, this is not always based purely on bathing. Diet can affect your body odor, to an extent. Most vegetarians swear that they can smell meat eaters (although I wouldn't know).
All good Muslims bath five times a day, once before each prayer session. Ironically, this constant washing is mostly ritual, required washing of the head, feet, genitals and arms, IIRC, and sometimes precludes daily or more often thorough bathing.
People from European countries sometimes do not bathe as regularly as North Americans and in some countries antiperspirant is not widely used, although deodorants can be. Result is a more noticeable odor. This is NOT something genetic, it is cultural, and cultures ARE different. Note that most Thais bathe more frequently than most farangs, as a matter of upbringing and habit. Thus foreigners (of ever nationality) are likely to have a more noticeable odor than Thais, at least for visitors.

In your (admirable) effort to prevent anyone from expressing racist viewson this forum (I share that desire) you are talking utter nonsense; labeling people from certain countries is precisely what bassgod did NOT do.
While I don't think it is particularly helpful to point out (the truth) that some people, have an odor (for reasons mentioned-cultural, dietary), it is not racist.
The problem with Political Correctness is that it interferes with pure rational thought (as if such a thing existed!) and honest communication.
Get a life man. Find a genuine injustice that is worth fighting against - there are plenty.

Back to the original question. Avoid beef. My wife told me that when we first met that my sweat smelled very bad because of the beef in my diet. Everone is going to sweat in BKK, you can't avoid that but you can avoid the beef problem by cutting it out of your diet for a couple of weeks prior to departure. Then once there shower shower and more showers.

Ok, my last post on the subject.
I must say I am really surprised that so many people shared Bassgod's view on this subject.
I didn't jump on Bassgod because I wanted him to be politically correct. I jump on him because his broad generalization on how Farang from certain countries smell. Yes, he didn't name the countries, but to me that's even wrost. That's like saying white people are big and strong, and Asian people are short and small. (Which I know is not true!) I would NOT have said anything if he states that "some people from certain countries have a stronger smell."
Why am I so touchy on his generalization comment? That's because I had been hurt both mentally and phycially becuase other people's generalization about me and the color of my skin.
MrJoe, you want me to get a life. Let me tell you, I have a life. In my life, I practically have to deal with Bassjoe's type of generalation everyday. It's not something that you would understand unless you are in my situation.
Like I said, I will not comment further on this subject.

You say that you will not comment further; I think you should feel free to do so if you have something to say. In any case I hope you take the time to read this;
1) I think you are (purposely?) mistating the facts when you say that people share Bassgod's view - I certainly did not claim to share it; It's rather that people don't share your interpretation of his comments. (How can the use of "some people" be a generalization?)
2) If you are a victim of any sort of racism or bias, I am sincerely sorry for that. I won't embarass myself by trying to prove to you how much I hate racism (there's NOTHING I hate as much) or even the very minor ways which I have experienced it in my life. (Though if you want to challenge me on these points feel free.)
3) My admonition to get a life was rude and uncalled for, my suggestion that you choose your battles more wisely, IMHO, was not.
