i like to think that we as sex tourist think we are vital to thailand, but in reality we are not.
conceptually I agree that bkk would like fewer sex tourists...lol. when people know I go to bkk all they concern about is how much girls costs......i of course tell them. they not worried what else thailand has to offer, to be honest I dont know what else thailand has to offer.......lol.
short time with hot chinese thai is enough for me....lol.
has any uni girl done a thesis on how much thailand gnp would be reduced if sex farungs were eliminated from economy...lol.

Daffy,, No I do NOT think Thailands entire economy is based on P4P.
What I do see happening is major and fast increasing competition in other areas of the Thai economy ( food,clothing etc) especially from China.
I do believe the amount of foreign money is very under-estimated,. it is coming into Thailand from tourists essentially attracted by the countries natural beauty ( Chaing rai, Phuket,Pi Pi, temples, river cruises, etc ) but finally making the choice on Thailand over other similiar countries because of the P4P / go go scene.
Of cause the p4p girls will find other work but I doubt it will generate anywhere near the same amount of cash.
Probably less than 10%.
If the P4P scene prices itself out of business at least 50% of the hotels in Sukumvit area will need to be converted to "rice storage facilities". But that may be a problem also as Thailand is not as efficient at producing rice as many think, in fact I believe ( could be wrong) that Australia can produce rice at an equal or less price.
Either way I want the best for Thailand, I love the place the people and the culture,,,,,in fact I love it so much I married one.
As for Pattaya dissapearing I am all FOR that, horrible place.

Include Japanese, Arab, Chinese etc with the farangs in the tourist industry.
Imagine what Ratchada, Petburi, Sukhumvit, Patpong to Dusit would look like? How about Pattaya? Phuket?

harold mate, you underestimate the importance of mongers such as myself. Even if the girls found something else to do they would earn a mere fraction of what they are earning now. What about all the other people who would suffer, hotel staff, cab drivers, restaurant owners. Thaksin would like to wipe out the vice trade overnight, but he knows that is not an option.

you're right about the rice production in Thailand. It is not competitive, and the yield is not impressive, per rai, compared to other countries. I saw the stats on this last year, when there was a lot of stuff running in the papers about China, open markets, etc.
Now... back to the thread...

Whats the name of that NEP gogo bar 4th floor on your left hand side? Only a small staircase going up from the entrance of the bar below, which btw has a glass ceiling to this place ?!?!?!?!? Above it is only a ST Hotel place... The name is something Italian I think and sound like big money which is totally misleading...
