Dude, you do *not* go to Pattaya for the beach!! Trust me on that. that's the least reason for you to be there!! (though, even more risk to you if you are the pushover type - seriously, get a wingman. )
In terms of accommodations, I pick a nice serviced apartment (again, saucytim's your guy) as a comfortable and nice room is important to me, but so are a good pool, a good breakfast buffet, and a balcony. Don't cheapen out on the hotel - if this is your ONE trip, treat yourself - plus, any female companions will appreciate a nice hotel so much more than a cheap hole.
If you are concerned about your plans, book your hotel in 3-day blocks - again, saucytim can help you there, and if you like a place, just extend in due time. This gives you flexibility.

I can not recommend them enough. You are fine with a walk-in. for untrue Isis they prefer appointments.
Fillings, including x-ray,exam, etc are about 1000 Thai baht. I had a root canal done there and it cost me roughly 8000 Thai baht and they did an excellent job.

Plenty of good advice from experienced guys on here.
If I may add my two cents worth :
On hotels, you might consider looking at http://www.agoda.com (I have no affiliations) - I have been able to find some nice places to stay using this site and achieve a fairly significant discount on standard hotel rack rates.
On shopping and negotiation - you might want to consider taking one of your conquests shopping with you, they can help with directions, assist with negotiations, a good one will advise you if you are paying to much. Finally, after shopping, they can help you relax back in your hotel room following all your exertions. I would lay the ground rules out first - ie this is shopping for me, no you cant have a phone blah blah blah.
Enjoy your trip to Bangkok and good luck with it being a one time trip. I did my one time trip in 2004 and now, 70 times later - will be back again in January!!!

Thank you every one, especially with the dental stuff. I will decide who to go to, etc., once I am closer to actual arrival date. But definitely will check these guys out.
Saucytim sounds great for getting hotels, so I will try and contact him. Seems like many folks recommend DrLove's tour, but don't link to a site. Is he just one of us guys from this site, or where is he?
Ozztra, I gotta hand it to you, you have a GREAT idea. I once took a stripper shopping for lingerie. Turned into one of the finest shopping experience I ever had. Was totally worth the purchase of the lingerie, and that was in U.S. with the inflated prices. I totally want to try this with shopping for my own clothes and pay her with a purchase of lingerie, which of course she has to try on and display before we buy it. Haha. Thanks, Oz.
And I already have looked at the living in Thailand section. It DOES sound like a nice idea, but I don't see how a deaf guy like me can gain employment there, so doubt it would happen.

if dental work is on the agenda you may consider Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (in Pattaya and on the web).
I have had major work done there and recovering by the sea is much better than recovering in a noisy polluted city, imho.
