not a niewbie question but rather a query about the laws.
I could be rambling but you can all read throu it and see what I mean..
In 2002 I heard that a girl working in a bar had to be 21yo or older.. and that they were going to increase that to 23yo i Pattaya. What gives?? True or Fiction?
I can't make out what age the girls are since the seem so much younger then they claim.. could also be that they are adding some years :D
Also, EPCAT have been pushing hard agains exploiting children. I have heard that you could get young girls/boys in Thailand but that must have been in the -70s.. I have been there 10 times now since -98 and I haven't seen anything out in the open. How is that now? Also... the girls must be 18+ for a fereng to pop her, no?
The laws of Thailand regarding childporn is tough as they should be.. but now it must just be a "myth"?? Noone would go to LOS for that? -nam, kambodia, laos.. those are the countries?

if you are genuine about your question and destroying your paradises image, then all I can say that I have not seen any of it for some time, certainly not in public as they used to, even in Pattaya. One very relevant thing I noticed now compared to say 5 years ago, walking along Silom there would be touts asking if you want girl, young girl 13/14/15. In the last 8 monhts since living here and alsmost daily being on or around Silom, this has never happened again. So although it still is about, it has gone underground and harder to find, this I hope makes it much harder for anyone to find or even perhaps think of trying it because it was so easier then.
If you are on the other hand delving for info, tiny little tit bits, then I guess one day those who do this end up on holiday in some of the filthiest places on earth and in better accomodations and company than they deserve. Not a good outlook for the rest of your prime years.

*lol* well... I can't understand why someone would like to pop someone that young.. The best women are those between 25 and 35... more genuine and pleasing than a 19-20yo who tries to get as much money and presents as possible.
I am glad that it isn't that open anymore and I hope that more countries take tougher action against it.
Thailand has so much more to offer us tourists than just being viewed as a place Pedo's are going. TG that has changed the last few years.
But still.. true that girls must be 23+ to work in bars?

I think that it is actually 18yo, it is one of these TIT roundabout kinda laws. You have to be 20yo to drink in a pub or licenced premises, but you can get a job in one of those places at 18yo, but you better not be drinking on the job.

I've heard that too but I've also heard it's 18 for dek-serves and 20 for dancers. The result of their being twentyleven different laws all still on the books of course.
