Okay, as a Thai (although I'm not sure I'd fall into any "average" category), my 2 satang on some of these....
I wouldn't say falangs with prostitutes are idiots, because I certainly patronize some of the same establishments as some of them. I would say it's a feeling between amusement and indifference though when you see a guy settle into a "serious" relationship with a working girl or rejected goods (you'll see a surprising # of falang fellows willing to accept a girl who already has a child by another father... this is something a Thai fellow would RARELY do).

I don't think these types of guys would be considered "average" Thai guys either. Although there are a LOT of prostitutes here, even if there were 1-2 million+ of them (most would agree that these are high side estimates), their boyfriends certainly wouldn't be considered anything other than the lower tiers of society. Above them, you'd still have 30-50 million in the lower to lower middle classes that would be more of an average. And then the final 10-15 million making up the upper middle and ruling classes. Humbly, I think I might fall into that last group? ;) Because I do rule.

I'd say mostly indifference as well. One plus about fellow Asians is that we (Thais and all Asians) are allowed a wider range playing 'field' without "disturbing the social fabric:"
-A lot of the working girls that cater to us can blend easier into the background at some bars, restaurants, even driving ranges. Hence, more of a societal 'fit.'
-A lot of class identication here (this comes up when falangs wonder how we can tell if someone is a hooker) comes from listening to a girl talk (total fish out of water situation). The communication afforded between Asians usually flows smoother (the working girls seem to be able to pick up Chinese and Japanese easier than they can pick up English as well) and stands out less. Again, more social harmony.
