Brings back memories. Went to a Buddhist temple outside the tourist section of the city on my last visit with some local TGs. As I was walking through the small village, some idiot guy walked by me and yelled out "FARANG", like nobody else, including myself, was aware of that fact  . I knew he was being a dick, wish I could have broke him over my knee. But growing up in Guam, a haole boy, I was used to having my skin color pointed out to me at every possible occasion, so I blew it off... I can definitely see that getting old, real quick.

Hey, this is nothing personal, but there are a hundred threadsi on why us lucky bustards are here, why we came here, and what keeps us here... TAKE A LOOK AROUND... appreciate that long term expats even give a f_ck to share information here.... think about what your asking, who your asking, and put yourself in their shoes.... why should they bother helping a twit who wont think about the implictions of their questions....
Sorry to be sh_tty... but like I mentioned to RTB earlier... some forum members are 20 times harder to deal with than the Nativess.....

1) I KNOW what attracts people to Thailand. I am asking about the CIRCUMSTANCES which would allow someone to actually move/live there. Is that so hard to understand? Or perhaps you just got up one morning and said "I'm going to live in Thailand" and took a cab straight to the airport?
b) This post was addressed to those expats who DID feel like sharing their story. Those too apathetic and too jaded by it all (like you) to respond are free to go elsewhere.
iii) I did think about what I was asking--and it's a reasonable question. Perhaps your sour attitude is a consequence of living there, or perhaps it's just part of your personality.
Sorry to be sh_tty...but your post was obnoxious and unnecessary.

I think you'll find most expats have no real interest in discussing their circumstances with strangers in full world view.
I've never answered one of these questions and never would if in the situation again.
In person it's different, but even with some of the guys I know well, I don't fully know or understand their circumstances.
Some of the guys from the board are not just long term sexpats doing their best to stay, we are talking guys with or earning real money, and it really has never been a topic of discussion on here or in person.
As for FB...he's young and handsome and dead nice....though I'll kill him if he doesn't get out of my bed....ah hell...talk of the party house has got me a weeping....

i was an hours drive out of khon kaen staying in villages for a month, (but admit ended up back at the silfton in town) there are not alot of farangs in those parts. Infact, I have to agree with fat boy, that "'farang "" was said several times, in a way you sense the discription held some contempt. But on one occansion, at an open air concert, travelling musicans held. A spotlight from the near by stage, shone down on me, and with me as the only farang in an audience of 300 plus from local villages in attendance. It suprised me to be actually used as a measure of the bands success that farangs want to come to see. The crowd clapped, "'my wife yelled out in thai something that brought alot of laughter\ I knew was about me"' little bitch. But kryptonites experience, might be true of cheap charlies there, and his warnings, very possibly accurate. I was never short of a money in that time. So naturally had many mates at 5pm when the beers flowed, and I taught two up, giving the players 100 baht each in 5 baht coins, getting pissed together. A few of the woman would flirt, but its dangerous (if your wife doesnt get you the little f_cking kick boxer will. I have to say, that issaans that are the poorest of thais seem less dicrimanting of farangs. Some up there dont see many. In the markets you were centrer of attension, and the trick was to be happy and generous. I am interested though, in others that live there, and their experiences with thais. Does your income status, really demean your existence?
