As they say in Thailand 'It's up to you' I have visied BKK lots and lots of times and never been bored, but then I'm happy unwinding by the pool reading a book, riding the Sky train from end to end getting a good view over the city and not to mention the eye candy. take the river bus for the river views jump off at stops and explore, buy a good travel guide to help you IE: Rough Guide.
Don't be afraid to wonder down Soi's and sub Soi's you will find all sorts of little workshops turning out anything you can imagin. The teak workshops near the Golden Mount get there by Klong bus from behind Jim Thompsons house which is also worth a look at.
A M8 jumped off the river bus at landing No1 and walked into a 1950s movie being shop at a colonal house the collection of classic cars and motor bikes was fantastic, much better than seeing them in a museum.
Thailand is not only BKK pack a flight bag leave your luggage in hotel storage and pay a visit to Pattaya, Chang Mai/Rai go and look at gems in Mae Sot, chill out in Hua Hin be adventureus.
I'm sure you have picked up enough information from the board not to be scammed and how to get good travel deals, so just go out and do it.
If you think Thailand is dirty never ever go to India, Egypt or Africa cos then you Will see what dirt and filth realy is. During my last trip I visited Cambodia the red dust in the street of Seam Rip had me caughing all day, PP was even worse but the people were great.
It's a wide world and very different from your home I'm sure, go and take a look at it then you might appreciat home even more, or as in my case not miss the UK at all apart from my family. In a years time I will be spending at least 6 months a year in LOS till I get fed up with it or till I've shagged all the girls which ever cums first!!!!!!!!

If a million people "choose" Chrisitianity without ever understanding or trying Buddhism, Mohamedanism, Judaism or Confucianism, is that really a choice?
If you asked a million people who had never left their home town in Iowa for their opinion of Paris, France, would those opinions have any value?
Do any of those millions -- or the Righteous Defenders here -- know enough about the history of Buddhism (in general or specifically in Thailand) or the evolution of religious architecture or any of the other prime motivators to really understand what you are looking when you visit a temple?
I know the answer is no -- a resounding no. They just show up with their cameras and their bad tourist shoes and their preconceptions, wander around like idiots, gape and gawk and think they know something.
There's a gross difference between the awe that results from ignorance and the awe that results from knowledge. Being gobsmacked simply because something is big and shiny clearly belongs to the former.
A quality lay on the cheap is something everyone can understand if they've tried it. These matters are direct and experiential; nothing beats a hot girl in your bed and money in your pocket.
I've seen the "muddy old rivers and reclining Buddhas" and I'm not interested in pissing away my life trying to arrive at what would be, at best, an incomplete and abstract understanding of them. Give me the tangible and subjective any day.
I stand by my previous assertion.

Life can be measured by determining what was the most impressionable thing you did within the 24 hours allowed for each day.
Far and away, for the majority of men who visit Thailand by themselves, it is the Thai woman who they have chosen to spend time with for that day or night that is the highlight.
The rest is glorifed by idealists seeking temples and tans.
But if you live in LOS, a sense of civilization sets in and the highlights become variable. Just like living anywhere.

I usually spend time with Thai friends trying out stall-food. We have lots of fun at cabarets at night.
Getting bored means that you are not intelligent. There are literally a billion trillion things one can do to spend their time. Heck as a kid, I saved my self from not getting bored in school by reading books that interested me and writing and drawing. Before laptops, I'd used to take sketch books and mechanical pencils on long flights.
Boredom is for unimaginative people. No ifs and or buts about it.
