Don't buy off the rack, tailor shops are the way to go.
Royal Fashions Soi 11 is very approachable. I used to use them.
I now use Athens, they tailor to the Thai poo yai, will come measure and fit and deliver at office, but are not accepting any new clientele. And they are 2-3X more expensive than "run of the mill" tailors.
But the end result is worth it.

a tailor who is also very good is narin between soi 8 and 10.
they are not cheap, about thb 15,000 for a suit, but the result and the cloth available are well worth the money!

B15K for a suit in Bkk is very expensive.
I like gettingthe custom clothes as you get features you don't get off the rack.
For example, if you get dress type shirts (button down) you can have them put flaps with buttons on the pockets (choice of one or two) and they will also put a small slit so that you can put your pen in your pocket.. cheaper custom made than at Wal mart for junk.
Another thing is length of the shirt. I have short legs for my height so have what is called a long trunk. Off the rack shirts don't tuck in well and are often coming out of my pants.. I have them made 2" longer and never have this problem.
for years I have shopped at Gulatis which is on the corner of soi 3/Sukhumvit, he speaks great English and knows what he is doing.
A good suit there will not come close to B15K.

i know thb 15,000 is expensive but quality does have its price and if you want zegna or cerutti cloth you will have to pay that much!
all i am trying to say is that i would not go for the polyster style suit most tailors do offer for usd 99,-!

Has anyone here dealt with Rajas Fashions just outside the Nana Complex. They cater mostly to US diplomats, FBI, Marines, DEA ;their walls are covered with cards of US army, State Department, Navy personnel . But I got the impression they only give a shit about u if youve got one of those cards. I paid USD 600 for a suit and a blazer which was completed in 48 hrs and sent over to my hotel. Just one fitting. At home I discovered a shitload of imperfections and wrote to them. To his credit, Bobby Gulati graciously asked me to courier the suits back to him and he'd fix them and courier them back. What a hassle but better than no response. Now Im gonna have to cart the suits back to Bangers (which does have a few advantages I'll admit). Another thing: when selecting the material, I was told they'd be using their best material which they said was Armani but had no such name on the bale. But I believed them cos they were recommended by someone. When I felt the suit material at the fitting it didnt feel like the same but what to do. I couldn't possibly raise a stink because I had no proof. Should I have asked them to have clipped a bit of the cloth they were gonna use and staple it to my receipt so I could compare it later. Also, does anyone know which tailor definitely stocks Zegna and Armani(is it Giorgio or Emporio) fabric?

that is a typical tailor experience in thailand. that is why i usually recommend 'narin' to everybody.
1.) they can not make a suit in 48 hours, as you will have to go there 3 times for 3 fittings, so best will be 72 hours!
2.) all the tailors who have those stupid business card as a show off are usually crap! why showing off business cards when you are good!!!
3.) at the end of the day you probably paid more for crappy work and material than going to a decent tailor in the first place!

Last time I was in BKK I stopped in one tailor shop and asked about custom suits, they only wanted to make a single type of pattern. If I'm going to get a suit made then I'd like something a little more fashionable than the standard mold. Any ideas on tailors who are good at doing a more fashionable cut?
