You've gotten some really good advice. Given your special circumstances, you've wise to fly instead of taking the train. I don't know about now, but a year ago Bangkok Air had the earliest flight to Koh Samui and the latest departure of the day heavily discounted.
I did indeed take an Eden lady with me to Koh Samui, but it was someone I'd known for a long time. She had considerable bargaining skills, I figured she saved me about 5,000 baht on the cost of the hotel room alone. We had set out for Don Muang not really knowing where we going. We decided that we'd take the first available flight. When he arrived at the airport, there was a flight leaving in about 60 minutes to Koh Samui and I rushed to buy the tickets while she started bargaining with one of the hotel bookers about a hotel room.
It didn't take me long to buy our tickets, but she was still in the middle of her discussion with the hotel agent. We walked away three times until he reduced his price far enough to suit her. We made it onboard with just a few minutes to spare.
It was a great trip, very memorable. One day I'll have to write it up. The high point was a threesome with a 19-year-old girl who my Eden lady met in a Chaweng nail salon and had very limited exposure to P4P. She wanted to quit her salon job and move to Bangkok to earn big money in P4P. She regarded my lady as something of a mentor. In the true spirit of the master instructing the apprentice, my lady taught her the proper way to suck dick, with me as the object! It was an experience you probably couldn't have anywhere but LOS and then only with luck.
Certainly there is no shortage of ladies on Samui, although from what I observed, they weren't as cute as in BKK or Pattaya and there was a lot of competition for the better looking ones. The biggest difference was that the English of the girls on Samui was extremely limited.
If communication beyond "I go Seven now" or "I watch TV now" is important to you, you might do well to take a lady with you. Gulliver's is good bet for ladies who speak English well, although you can find FLers who speak surprisingly good English in the oddest places, it's just to look.

LOL I knew someone was gonna challenge that. But I have encountered roadblocks to online booking of <24hrs on a couple of regional airlines.
Nothing worse than get caught with a [paid] hotel res. I can't enjoy because the flight was over booked.

Somebody has to keep you in line skipster.  I only know Bangkok Air's policy because I usually book last minute with under 24 hours. Doing that will usually not get you the webfare rate though as they are almost always sold out.

Hey Jake. Sorry to hear about your breakup. My first trip to BKK w/my boys was to basically celebrate my divorce becoming finalized, so I can pretty much relate. For what it's worth, here's my $.02:
Judging by the fact that you only have 6 nights to spend in LOS, I would say just skip Samui & just spend the nights in BKK mongering & going buckwild. The days will fly by, trust me. You'll wish you had spent more time in BKK when you're on the flight back home to farangland. Then if you want a change of pace, you can always take a saunter down to Pattaya on bus or in a taxi. No need to waste time going through airport security & checking luggage when you should be using that valuable time picking up Thai chicks.
That's my take. Have an awesome time in LOS. I'm going back there next month myself. Can't wait!

booked a flight with Bangkok Air 12hrs before departure over tinternet with no probs!
pick up tickets at the Bangkok Air service desk in domestic terminal, make sure you have the credit card that you booked the flight with and away you go!
Great airline that Bangkok Air!
Jake26, is it just the company you work for that only give you 10 days off? or is it the same for everyone in the US? - i'd be so out of the place I work now if I had only 10 days off a year! fook that!

Homer, yes unlike my brit and european mates we in america typically get 1 week to 2 weeks a year paid vacation.
last survivor, who is a great forum member, happens to be fortunate enough to work for an enormous american company and gets holiday time more on the european standard. (LS, I hope your well bro!)
It sucks, but I still love being American (except for Bush, Viva Bill Clinton LOL!)....insert your right wing comments below guys, I know you will...

Thanks for the kind words ATL.
For the record I get 38 days vacation time every year and almost always an extra 5 days. About 8 weeks and 3 days total. No matter how much time you get off it is NEVER enough time in Thailand. I'm trying to limit my time there now as the wife is 22 weeks pregnant and I'm not sure I can handle the temptation. Trying to be a good husband and dad at the moment is extremely difficult.

How many games are you BEHIND in cribbage now? Something like 10 or more. Anyway, if you only get 38 days and are working for a living at your age you should work harder. The little woman wants to talk to your S.O. so have her call.
