About one year ago, I was at Siam Center and wanted to go to Pantip Plaza. I had a map and thought I could take a short cut through a side street.
I soon found myself walking through one of the poorest parts of town along the river. Most of the people looked at me like I was crazy for being there. I guess I was lucky to get out of there without any damage. Probably the fact that I was 6'2" didn't hurt.

I've done the same thing, many times, most recently during Songkran. I thought I would get royally soaked and powdered, but all I got was the traditional sprinkling with a few drops, a touch on the cheek with some powder and a polite wai...
The only uncomfortable thing was being so obviously rich compared to the people whose neighborhood I was invading...it was embarassing.
As DG said, Thais are cool - the more you get away from Sukhumvit, the more you will like them.

Does anybody know where I can buy an Accupuncture Doll in Bangkok or surrounding Area?
It is a type of desk top statue with all the Accupuncture points marked out, that you would see in a doctors office.
