My last trip was for 37 days, 5 of which were spent in Cambodia, 9 in Pattaya and the rest in BKK.
My next trip will be for 10 days, 5 in BKK and 5 in Pattaya. The trip after that will be for Jan, Feb, March and April 2005, back again for part Oct till April 2006.
This I'll keep repeating till I've shagged all the girls in LOS or I've dropped dead from exhaustion.
During the the long trips I plan to tour Thailand and do side trips to surrounding countries.
For the cost of flights from the UK or US and the time involved I think a week is the shortest time you should be considering. It takes a while to get a feel of the place, unless you are a seasoned worldly traveller.

Mine are usually only 3 or 4 days at a time but I get to go about 5 times a year. Travel costs not really an issue as all paid for and deductable.
If I were travelling for a "holiday" and only once or twice a year Id go nuts if it was for less than 2 weeks.
That said you can sometimes get some incredible deals - there was a (fairly) recent incident of £230 return with BA from Heathrow which maybe does make a shorter stay viable - especially in view of the fact that you will also go nuts sitting at home waiting for the next trip to be due 
Personally I actually prefer to go 5 times a year for short trips than once for a long one as it keeps me sane and keeps the hormone levels under control

Now that Air Asia is flying from Singapore it only costs (if you can get them) $24.00 Sing (about $14.00 USD) one way! Can go every weekend!

East coast US (during summer months June - Aug) is the only time I can make it out there and the lowest airfare I could get is right around a $1000. No less than 3 weeks for me when I'm spending that much cash.

I try to stay for up to 3 months. Longest stay was 100 days, shortest was 10 and that was a KMSBT (Keeping me sane between trips). Would not consider stay shorter than 17 days ever again - Unless as some of the wise bros say that it is KMSBT.

Things have been very quiet in Walking street lately, resulting in something of a price war between the discos. One thing Tonys has done is put in 4 short time rooms upstairs, where the hairdresser used to be. Very clean, airconditioned with a separate American style toilet/shower etc. Only 300baht short time or 600baht long time. And remember that the girls in the disco are no barfine - often you can see the very same girls that work down the road in a gogo - instead of paying 600baht barfine and 1500 short time, most of the girls in Tonys will go 500 short time and 1000 long time!

Stayed 3 weeks my first time. Had a great time. Coming back in October for a month. Is expensive coming from U.S. Should stay at least 2 weeks. Only bad thing about staying a month or longer is it is pretty expensive for plane tickets, hotel for a month, and fun with the girls. I generally go out almost every night so I tend to go through a lot of money (do not take a girl every night, but drinking and buying drinks for the ladies tends to get a little expensive). Have a good time on your visit!!

Blew, I think my longest trip was to New Zealand (15hr 25mn,27hr 10mn with connections), for Thailand was around 14hr, 23 something hr with connections, thanks to the coffe I have jet lag no more, but the first time you feel bad... pretty bad, wish I could visit thailand more often though.
